When I watched Salah very early in his Liverpool tenure, for the first 3-4 games or something, including exhibition and what not, I immediately felt that aside from him his very final ball, be it a pass or a shot, he was just lacking polish but could be world class if that sorted itself out. Literally within the next couple of games that part of his game rounded out and I think his season was not an anomaly but rather he is indeed a superstar.

My view on salah is he has 3 things going for him.

    1. Real strength and power. He really can hokd guys off and fight his corner

    2. Huge pace.

    3. Supreme confidence.

His skill ain't half bad either mind but for me when you've got those 3 things and you are put where your runs are in behind then you will get chances.

40goals is a huge return. If he gets 25 next year in league is that failure? I think not.

Yes, if he'd been the same with us as he has at City in terms of his game, then yes

He wasn't very well liked anyway when with us and the performance level he's shown at City, while perhaps a little improvement than it was with us, wouldn't be enough to change that at all

Sterling still can’t kick a football properly, that’s why he’ll never be a great goal scorer. Most of his goals were tap ins and he got there with good speed and intelligent movement (plus sane, Silva and de Bruyne creating brilliant chances).

He evrn managed to miss a few of them as well, it seems weird to say given he scored 20 goals, but he’s not clinical n

So Griezman has decided on his future... and Lemar is going to Atletico. Wonder if those two are linked in anyway.. <whistle>

Harsh reality is it’s the general difference between British born and trained skill/technique vs continental European born and trained skill/technique.

To be fair, I remember comments about SMMialah being wasteful at the beginning of the season... And he was. But he got some goals anyway and just got better as the season progressed. Took a couple of months to really click and then no stopping him.

Stirling was always frustrating as heck with us. There was always obviously real talent there but it's like he couldn't concentrate for more than a minute at a time. He'd be brilliant for a minute at a time and then do something stupid.

    Well sort of.
God forgive me that I know this, but their lead atrocity-maker was called Limahl, and the reference was to Lemar leaving, and Griezmann taking over.
Thanks to that brief exchange I've had that bloody awful song going round in my head all morning.

So to score so many when you are not a natural finisher?

    What makes a natural finisher?

Positioning, timing, composure, ability to find space, technique???
