You're not a real F1 Fan if you support boring races like yesterday

It doesn't matter who wins in that fashion, Seb or Lewis, it's not healthy for the majority of races in a season to be boring processions with absolutely no action at all. It doesn't matter if your favourite driver won like that you can't rationally push or support a race like that even still. I like exciting races, races where there's genuine excitement at lights out and I don't know who's going to win. Maybe everybody is so infatuated with their favourite drivers and teams and they like boring mismatch type races...

I think we're all currently exasperated by the lack of racing we're seeing at the moment at some races, though not all.

But as FANS, real F1 FANS, we will keep watching it in the hope that it will improve and there is always a classic race to be had somewhere in the season!

They're not all classics, which is why we appreciate the classics when they happen.

When was this golden age of racing which people think happened at some stage? Periods of dominance for teams and drivers are the norm in F1, and ever since aero became king it has buggered up the racing. None of this is new.

Quite why the policy makers in F1 refuse to do something about restricting aero and going back to more reliance on mechanical grip is beyond me. You would at least get some passing.

As I posted a while ago , anyone remember Mclarens 15 wins out of 16 season ?

Dominance is nothing new , as a Fan of F1 , I hope for some exciting races , but would be stupid to expect loads .

We'll see what happens with the new rules, a wider, deeper rear wing will cause more drag, which will improve the effects of DRS & slipstreaming, and the front wing won't create as much 'dirty air', which should help the cars behind through corners. Personally I think they should've made the front wing narrower too, the end wing-plates in line with the inside tyre wall to reduce a bit more of the front grip.
Cooling will still be a problem, but that's been around for decades.

Welcome to F1 for the last (I have actually lost count) years. Not sure why you're just now getting your knickers in a twist.

There is a solution though (other than sorting the ****ing aero regs).... IndyCar!!!

Even then, Indycar races can be processional, or any form of motor racing for that matter.

I'm sometimes at a loss as to what people expect out of motorsport. BTCC has a success ballast system, and it does mean different winners etc, but its artificial racing to an extent. At Oulton Park at the weekend, some of the guys at the top of the charts didn;t score a point because of ballast. Why race when you don't stand a chance!?

I wonder whether F1 needs to rotate races from the calendar each year. Drivers and teams are too familiar with the same tracks being used over and over again. If circuits are swapped from year to year, data from previous events becomes less relevant, the drivers have to learn new and more tracks, so driver errors or set up mistakes could be more common. It adds some variety for the watching fan as they are seeing different venues each year.

There are plenty of tracks around the world that are certified for F1 use but not used, probably for commercial reasons imposed by Bernie. If the new owners make it more viable to host a race, then surely more countries/tracks will want to do it, and that would benefit all?

Every series has it's dull races, but there is very rarely an IndyCar race with low overtaking or where you could confidently predict the winner. I know they are completely different formula, but it is way more entertaining right now.

Going to be even more entertaining when Alonso joins next season. :)

Liberty want more FTA Races, which reduces broadcasting revenue, if you reduce race fees too, that's even more revenue lost - which hits the teams in the pocket. Sure a cheaper formula will help, but that's not agreed yet.

The problem with your idea is that the races that struggle financially tend to be the classic European races we wouldn't want to be without, whilst the ones chucking loads of money about to host races are often more dull. If the calendar rotates more, it'll be the classic venues which miss out.

I can't decide whether the title of this thread is an attempt at trolling or not.

Either way, as has been mentioned before, they can't all be amazing races and I can't think of any sport that doesn't have its dull matches. I understand people's concerns when we get races like this but ultimately I think there's a lot of rose-tinted glasses being worn! That being said, I agree that the regs could be tweaked to improve the racing but knee-jerk reactions aren't going to solve any problems that the sport does have. Could the cause of this reaction be that we're used to quite good races from Canada in the past and so are more disappointed than we might usually be from a dull race?

Made no sense to me either .

Rain. The chocolates become more unpredictable when it rains. Or... something.

Over-priced, over-packaged, mostly disappointing and usually has a praline that just about everybody hates?

I do wonder if Liberty is pushing the budget cap has another reason behind it. Not just 'trying to level the playing field' but to enable them to reduce the money they have to pay out? Which would enable them to reduce the track fees and have more fta viewing?
It could almost be as if Liberty know that the current income is unsustainable so they had a plan all along to completely change the funding method?
