I'm in the market for a Van. Gonna chop the Touareg in for hopefully a VW T5. Anybody here owned one ? I had a T4 years ago and it was an amazing van, really good on fuel too. The newer T5's are ****ing pricey though, so I'll probably be looking at a 10+ year old one.
T5’s have much better engines. Sound more like a proper motor as opposed to a painters van. Colleague at work has one on a 12 plate. It’s lush.
I've been looking at some of the newer camper vans, they are ****ing lovely, but £45 g's on a van ! ****ing hell. I reckon I'll try and get a basic panel van or maybe an old shuttle bus and make a project for myself.
I never knew campers were as expensive as they are. A recently retired colleague has just weighed out the best part of £70k on one. I've only seen pictures, looks good but I'm not sure £70k good!
My mate is a VW mechanic and I was chatting to him today about them. They've got one there for MOT and it's a £75k Camper ! That's ****ing mental money. I'm looking at about £5k lol, probaby end up with an old plasterers van
I could see you in an ex Royal Mail Sherpa, with a stove pipe poking out the top and a lurcher on the passenger seat I’ve had a T5 window van, you’ll need at least the 140ps engine after the Touareg.....
That was me 20 years ago Yeah the Touareg is 180bhp, might take some adjustment getting used to something a bit more 'sedate'. But I need a bigger vehicle for my business, so the Treg has got to go. Shame really as it's a lovely car.
I've got an older one on an 06 plate. ****ing lovely to drive and specced up to the gunnels. Really fast for a 2.5 tonne wagon and that's just the smallest engine in that model. They do 5 litre V10 diesel on the Treg ! I'd keep my one if it wasn't for needing more room. Those ****ing T5's are a lot of beans for what they are though ...

Looking at a van on a T5 forum, in budget, looks decent. Bloke has obvs looked after it and spent money maintaining it. He's called John Holmes though .... I'd be worried about going to view that alone
