As I agree that Kane has shown he can score goals at a level, he also needs good players around him to make him shine Delli Ali needs to grow up and forget the hype of last year and go back to what he was doing last season.... play football Eric Dier!! done well to get where he's got to. Also agree that if they had played out of Stretford they'd be lorded all over the gaff.
World cup is a bit different to Euro's though, wouldn't write Kane off just because his first tournament wasn't a great success. I ****ing hate Spurs but i'm not biased, guy is just on another level, give him the chances and he'll score. Think we have a very good chance. Personally think it'll be either France or England who win it. But as i said even if we make the quarters/semi's that'll be good, just hope we keep Southgate for the next one, just give him 2 world cups. Main weak point is our CB's, swear they're all just so mediocre
But most teams have a weak point. France's squad/team on paper is by far the best it's ridiculous, but we'll see boys
The top sides are the ones that have creative players. We lack that as a side and consequently will fall short. I admire Chelseas optimism but just don't see it. I also think Southgate should start with Kane and Rashford but he s likely to go with Sterling who cant score for toffee for country . That is a mistake and we should go for the jugguler and start with Rashford. He would terrorize the Tunisian defence...get us a goal in 1st half and away we go...
lol at the optimism / delusion with engurland, this has been happening for over fifty years now , and if goal line technology was around then , germany would have won it , but fast forward to now ..... I just like good football, don't care who plays it , southgate at least is looking to the future , and his side already entertains way more than his predecessors have done , with their predictable selections based on shirt sellers and names , at least he's gone for potential , hope they give a good account , but can't win this time , and throw in that nauseous 'band' , i have to turn the sound down for all the boorish singing of triumphalism that's about 120 years late . France are rightly favs , but are moody and can throw in a mare of a performance, could win with their fringe players , but equally lose to a minnow , brazil always show up for the later stages , likewise the germans , can't have either iberian teams , argentines may show up well , don't see much from belgium , but for a lively outsider i'm going with the uruguans , first country to legalise weed , they could light up the tournament and set it ablaze ! gwaan !!
You're not seriously claiming that wasn't over the line are you? Don't need Goal line technology for that it was clearly in haha!
Interesting points. Dele Alli does need to mature a bit, but is a great talent. Kane knows how to put them in, for sure, and often gets goals from nothing situations. Which leaves me with Dier, no great fan as he can be a liability at this level with his some times silly and clumsy fouls? England's No.1 red card prospect, unfortunately.
…………...then you'd better learn to tango Boris (if you can't already) in case the tango kings do well…………...
To be honest this is the first time i've really felt optimistic or even bothered about the world cup since 2002, think it's a combination of Chelsea being in an absolute rut at the moment and i do genuinely feel really confident and think we have a great chance, it's a very open world cup. Obviously stats and history are there to be broken but they don't particularly favour germany or the south american teams, Spain are massive underachievers they've barely done anything in the WC bar the one year they won it, France do tend to slack off and bottle it, no Holland or Italy, still have doubts about Belgium as a cohesive unit in the latter stages and they're so open, not a big fan of Martinez either, plus on the face of it we have a young hungry fearless team, so i do think this is our best chance for a while, whether we'll do it is another story. Wouldn't surprise me if one of Poland or Croatia went very far as well. Think 18/1 is a fair price for us with money back as Cash if we get knocked out on penalties with Betfred
Were you on choice Wiltshire Tweedy-Weed No.1 when you posted this, Rudey? Why on earth do you concern yourself with the up-and-down (mostly down lately) sport fortunes of England? Just to rattle us, well it don't work, mate. For myself, I don't give a rat's bum what the Scots or the Welsh are up to in sport, or the Irish for that matter. All very difficult to comprehend, think I'll have a Tweedy-Weed No.2, can't afford the No.1, which is difficult to find down here anyway, and I've got a damn good contact at the Hauptbahnhof!
Die Mannschaft have lost their leaders (Lahm and Schweinsteiger), have slow dodgy centre backs (I support FC Bayern), have an over rated main striker (Timo Werner) and have possibly lost the great relationship between the team and the supporters (Werner again and Ilkay Gundogan) however in all likelihood will again reach, at least, the semi finals. The build up has been the usual crap; check out friendlies leading up to other major tournaments. The main problem with friendlies is that 'we' try to score the perfect goal instead of utilising the memory of 'Der Bomber' which will surface once the tournament starts! Rock on Fritz Walter!
I also admire Chelsea's enthusiasm for England though I'm sure he said he was in his early 20s so he's not experienced the lows following England that I have. Some years ago I vowed not to even follow England fortunes in a tournament until they made the quarters. However I have a 7 year old lad whose enthusiasm for the tournament is unbridled and it kinda rubs off on you. And because his favourite players in the EPL are all foreign I don't think his enthusiasm will wain when England bow out. Finally it always amuses me that our celt neighbours seem to derive so much pleasure from our failure. I'd much rather have a dog in the fight (even if it is only a mad spaniel) than no dog at all.
"I have no idea why our neighbours want us to fail. Right lads, line up and loudly bawl your fealty to a religious oligarch - should a republican or Catholic not mouth the monarchist words pleading the deity to protect the head of our church (like Rooney - who fell into line), we'll get right on his case after we finish throwing chairs at the locals" The most stereotypically English thing to do is to act like an insular, offensive dick to everyone then loudly proclaim that it's not fair they don't like you. You're the baddies, wear the cap.
if you read it carefully i am giving a subjective view of the thread so far , many enthusiastic england supporters, which they should be , but it needs perspective, hence my comments , i have said i liked the present coach and his methods , even wished them well , but it's naive to think they can win , boris is about right 50/1 , i wasn't aware that you can't comment on certain teams ? There are some who think that the flag of a syrian saint is like a superman cloak , got news , it's not . I'm backing Uruguay to appear in the final at 12/1 !
