Addendum: It could be argued any keeper is going to have fewer clean sheets with us, simply because of the style of play. It's difficult to have a striker break the scoring record and the keeper get the Golden Glove, though 07/08 Torres and Reina were formidable, with a record and a Golden Glove. High press means more keeper exposure and more one-on-ones, which Karius handled well this season. Let's go to the numbers: Karius got 13 clean sheets in 29 league appearances. That 1 in 2.2 games. De Gea won this season's Golden Glove with 18 clean sheets in 37 appearances. That's 1 in 2.0 games. Interestingly, add in all competitions and Karius beats De Gea, with 2.05 to 2.09. Who knew? Small sample sets aren't much use, so I wouldn't make much of De Gea having only saved two penalties since he's been at Utd, while Karius already has one to his name. I'd argue it's Mingolet who can go. He's on £60k pw compared to Karius's £25k and isn't providing enough competition. It's money better spent.
He still has a jealous ex-girlfriend, Lyon. Not worth the baggage. We checked out the body and wasn't worth commiting to.
What is the general thinking on the Shaqiri transfer. . Good player imo and would add depth, he's only 26 which surprised me
I don't want him. He doesn't look like a Klopp type player either. Not sure what the thinking is on this one.
Shaqiri jus Hope we don't go for him. Bayern got rid and he chose Inter, where he only lasted a year. What big club went in for him....Stoke. Was it a step into the league to better things? Well he has been there 3 years and no one wants him. He has a terrible work ethic and attitude and just strikes me of being another Benteke, where he has some talent, but no effort and ultimately only shines on the very rare occasion.
Not good enough to replace any of our front three but provides another option and would be a good impact player from the bench so long as he doesn't sulk.
He's built like a tank and could do with losing some weight, technically he's very good but I agree on the work rate and attitude thing.
Interestingly he was named along with Gross, Mahrez, Zaha and Doucoure as players punching below their weight. And get this - he has a CL winners medal
This is my feeling too. I wouldn't personally pick him, but I'll wait and see how Klopp uses him before getting upset. A player can bomb at one club and do well at another. Look at Pogba, supposedly he wasn't too bad in Italy.
We are actually in for a Southampton geezer, someone called Terry Cooper. Reports are that we're in Spain finalizing the deal. @The Liebherr Legacy
