To be fair, our one day team are number 1 in the world. It was a flat wicket, and some of our players (Hales and Ali) took risks that weren’t required.
Bad light ends the day 8 overs early. I don't know if a decision was made over the FO or not. If not, then I wonder whether this bad light influences Surrey's decision?
Actually yes. Scotland are completley useless, however I understand Andorra and San Marino are marginally worse. But maybe Scotland deserve a little bit of credit for winning ?
Absolutely AS, any team that scores 371 from 50 overs and then bowling England out deserves a lot of credit.
This is shamefully poor from Hants, no way that they should be struggling so badly in the CC with the squad that they have (I had hopes of challenging this season) at this rate they might not be so lucky in avoiding the drop this season.
That was a serious Surrey side we faced. They blew us away like Essex blew us (and others) away last season (and at times this season). If they stay fit and available - and remember, they beat us without Elgar, or a replacement for Elgar - I'd expect them to win the title. But it doesn't hide the fact our batting looks awful both on paper, and in reality. It's nothing against Steyn whatsoever, but replacing Amla with a bowler (any bowler) can only be justified if they're taking 4+ wickets pretty much every innings. We just don't have the runs in us to compete otherwise. Thankfully, our next two games are against a heavily depleted Yorks and Lancs (thanks to the ODI matches, and Lions matches).
Good news: RTD will be suspended for Essex's QF against Yorkshire - and SF against us, should they progress. Bad news: Given that they already have more than sufficient bowling options in the side, there's the obvious way into the side for Cook.
Northeast made 28 and 50 today for the 2nd XI (t20 matches). Ignore the runs, and the level of cricket. The fact that he was back out on the field is very good news. Possibly ahead of schedule? Possibly in contention to feature in the SF on Monday?
