Can’t see them matching our valuation which is probably over £20m.

I agreed with signing Forster and JWP. I was not as keen about Davis and Tadic because of their age. And also, while they were solid starters on the team, they were not so good that we should consider them to have locked down their spots. It was partly a reflection of our lack of alternatives that they were so valuable.

But that isn't that big a deal. My rant at the time was less about us having signed those players and more that this represented some major step forward. At the time, people were like “Yeah, we won’t be pushed around anymore, look at us hanging on to out best players”. When the truth was those players were signed at about their value so there wasn’t that much interest in outbidding us. It was the attitude and the PR surrounding the moves.

But the real problem was less the moves that Saints made but the lack of them. We just didn’t spend. We had the money to sign those players and still bring in more/better competition instead of resting on our laurels. It’s good to try and keep some vets around. It’s good to take a chance on some young players even if they don’t pan out. But we were both stingy and cocky and decided that everyone was going to work out. We should have spent more. For all of the disagreements on the board about various players and tactics, I think we all have unanimously agreed we needed some attackers for two and now three years running. To have not bolstered that area of the squad and almost gotten us relegated is unforgiveable, which is why I would see Reed gone if I had my way.

It has already been reported that Napoli had discussions about ML.

I don’t know much about Twitter, but I see lack of blue tick. So I will await the picture with Mario holding a Napoli shirt.

Out of interest which contract extension for Fraser did you agree with the first or second?

The one last Summer was completely unnecessary and bizarre, I'd go far as saying it's the most ridiculous individual decision the club has made in this stint in the PL.

Even taking every factor into account there was no good logical reason for offgering him a new deal. l mean ffs, thats almost a sackable offence for Les in itself imo.

The only way it'd be rational, IMO, is if we had allowed the insertion of some sort of clause in the first deal that threatened to be problematic, but even that is really a problem of forethought.

Brighton, Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Brom have all expressed an interest in signing 26-year-old Celticmidfielder Stuart Armstrong, with the Scot keen on a move to the Premier League. (Record)

It's the not reinvesting that is difficult to justify.

You have to have some sympathy with the club over the Van Dickhead saga, but selling on the 1st day of the window and only reinvesting a fraction of that nearly cost us very dear.

<laugh> yeah, that'll be it - we're waiting for the new kit.

What's that you say? We can't get that over the line either?

Social media is a **** means of seeking information. There is nothing 'authentic' about any of it <ok>

I realise the professional media now rely heavily on it as a source, but they invalidate and demean themselves by doing so. We now live in a world where anyone believes any old crap, and is able to validate their position with a quick google - that isn't knowledge, and it isn't information. And it takes us further and further away from truth.
