With the workload that our midfielders get through, I guess the last thing we need is a dodgy knee. We already have few crocks in midfield: Can back/neck has gone, Ox - knee, lallana - thigh, hendo - Achilles (and funny gait <whistle>)

However we do have the superhuman Milner <ok>

Whereas that may be true, he could still be pissed off at us, rather than Lyon, especially if the fault of the medical was something minor.

I remember us pulling out of a striker deal several years ago over something on a medical. (In reality we had probably changed our minds and looking for an excuse).

there was a medical condition which which had put previous clubs off . Often the decider will be your view of the risk or your insurers view.

Apparently Asensio has threatened to quit the club amid interest from Liverpool.

Have to laugh. Why would he threatened to leave them to join us? Hasn’t been first choice this year but the guys gonna be their next star and will be in the next year when benzema and Ronaldo move on.

When's that happening? Ronaldo picks the team, ever wonder why Bale can't get in that team, he's there as long as he wants

I reckon its part of Zidane leaving, tired of Ronaldo being in charge. (same reason no Barca manager stays for long, with Messi running things). Managers want to be in charge.

Why don't we just stop messing about and sign Draxler?

Isn't he supposed to have picked a shirt number? That wouldn't be agreed before the medical. It sort of suggests that we were happy enough to sign him but wanted to renegotiate based on the 'dodgy knee'.

I wonder who leaks all this stuff. Fabinho was done and dusted before his name was even mentioned, then this one gets dragged through the gossip pages - and still isn't done.

Depending on the issue it won't be done imo. If the rumour of us renegotiating is true, then I don't see us ever signing him. If the rumour of the Lyon president never agreeing a fee in the first place and playing hardball is true, then maybe we do something post world cup.

Normally the selling club makes it public so it attracts other bidders in hope to drive up the price.

I'm not sure how the intricate details of transfers work so I can't see how the Lyon president [or whatever he is] can stop a player who wants a move, leaving in the way he is doing here. Obviously everything I've said about it is speculation anyway.

Lot of conspiracy theories going around. Joyce and Bascombe said last night that the medical showed some issues but Liverpool didn’t look to renegotiate.

Personally, I still think this deal goes ahead. If the medical issues were that serious, we would have pulled out completely and the club probs would have said something.

Anyways, that won’t be sorted for a little while. I

Shaqiri is apparantly very close ...

Aulas has a track record of being difficult. I just can’t see how Fekir stays and I can’t see how he goes anywhere else other than us given how close he was to joining us. I do think his mind is with LFC - similar to VVD and Keita. Once you’ve been Klopped ...

I've also read that Lyon didn't like Liverpool leaking the amount of the transfer and that's why they pulled out. This one is going to last all summer I think <laugh>

Define "steady between the sticks"? Because Karius has been progressing decently and wasn't a gamble any more than any purchase is, especially at less than £5m. He's had a consistent career since he was a kid.

Allison's struggled to be first choice everywhere he's been. In Brazil he was second to Dida, who few would define as the epitome of steady between the sticks. At Roma he only became #1 after Szezesny left. Szezesny, another non-worldie. Meanwhile, Karius was voted second in the Bundesliga to Neuer. It may not be the strongest league in the world but it's better than Brazil's Campeonato Gaucho, which only has 14 clubs.

In the 2016 Copa America, Allison fumbled a shot into his own goal, which was disallowed because the ball had gone out of play beforehand. Still a howler of a mistake reminiscent of Karius's CL error, though Allison didn't have the excuse of concussion. Brazil were eliminated in the group stage.

I don't like to stereotype but Germany has a "steady" record of developing goalkeepers when compared and contrasted with Brazil. £79m is a helluva gamble for a guy who's had one standout season.

The problem for Karius is all this talk of him not been worldie enough is it could affect his confidence and the griping then becomes self-fulfilling. But if anybody can rehabilitate him, it's Klopp.

The Liverpool Echo report that the Reds are unlikely to make another move for Fekir and will instead move on.
