I love Rafa but his stance on Mitro is baffling. He's our best centre forward by a country mile.

Lets hope that he has a cracking World Cup and we get top dollar for him.................... Rafa doesn't rate him, so he will be sold .................. all we can hope is that we get good money in so that Rafa can get somebody decent to replace him. £20 -25 mill for Mitro and 35 quid for Joselu will give us some options.

Only if he thinks he can buy the players who can help to carry the weaker parts of Mitrovic's game. By that I mean, in the current system Mitro doesn't fit but if Rafa could buy sufficient quality in the creative positions that there would be less requirement for the striker to do the defensive side of the game then maybe he could fit into the system. I'm not sure Rafa thinks Mitro has the pace he wants in striker, though, to be honest.

Don't get too excited, USA's MLS based youngsters + Pulisic beat Bolivia 3-0 a week ago. Btw, USA's European based youngsters - Pulisic just tied France1-1. Giroud, the only true #9 on the French roster, left bloodied and with a likely concussion.

Don’t think Bolivia has ever won a game played at an altitude of less than 10000’. Remember when I was in La Paz I was out of breath just walking around. Don’t know how anyone can play footy there.

Now imagine that hill at 13800’. Only airport I have landed at where they have oxygen bottles waiting as you get off the plane.

Rafa sent him out on loan and it's worked a treat.

He banged-in 14 goals for Fulham, has just scored an international hat-trick and will return to Newcastle United a changed man.

Ready to rip the premier league apart!
    ...for Fulham.

Should be the number 9, I don't buy this "doesn't fit the style" nonsense - Gayle played like a statue last season for the majority of the time, didn't break the defensive line often or score many goals and lets not even start on Joselu. Mitrovic can hold the ball up and bring others into the game, score with his feet and his head (how many headers did Gayle miss this year?) and with players like Ritchie and Shelvey knocking balls into the box from set pieces would be a massive threat

I'd look to shift Gayle on for £5-7mil - don't think hes worth much more than that and we have two of the hottest striking prospects on our books already in Mitro and Arma

Mitro 1st choice, Arma 2nd and Joselu for cup games and reinvest in the rest of the squad, Full backs, Wingers and a 10/creative CM should be the priority.

Agree except we should sack off Joselu and get Hernandez for free.

Rather see Mitro here and spend big on an attacking midfielder.

I like Mitro but I can’t see Rafa changing his tactics to suit him. There are more exciting styles than Rafa for sure but you can’t knock what he has done. Mitro is totally unsuited to his preferred tactic. He wants a striker who can stretch teams. I actually think it’s really harsh to suggest Gayle has been statue. He has missed chances and had poor games. However in that good run he did really well making space for others with searching runs onto Shelveys passes.

I think we just have to cash in on Mitro and accept Rafa and him are like oil and water.
