Don’t think so. A lot of people were very complimentary at the time when we got players signing up to long term contracts. I think people just like to moan.

A lot of people, maybe. But lots can still be a very long way off from being everyone.

 

So here's a thought.
What if we have signings agreed, but as the official club shirt doesn't get unveiled until next Saturday, the player(s) don't have a shirt to hold up for the photo's!
I am clutching at straws really, I have no confidence in this board to sign anyone of the quality needed.

 

I complained we were signing too many players to long term deals at the time.

I don’t like churning through players but the fact is, that is how things will be until you can build up the finances and reputation. When you get a VVD or Mane it’s a vindication of your player recruitment process. Why not play to your strengths?

I never understood the moaning about players leaving. It’s complaining that your investment made you so much money that now you have to sell it.

 

Which takes us back to square one. We are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. You have to try something to break this vicious circle.

 

Anyone else notice the hoarding underneath Gabbi reads, "Taste of Italy". A bit spooky is that.

Whoever was running Wesley's social media this past season - I believe it was an agency called 9024 - is really, really **** at making his pages 'authentic'.

Fans don't want to just see generic action photos that aren't even good quality, with a crappy little generic line underneath that anyone could have written.

Fans follow players to see what is going on, to get 'authentic' posts and to actually learn a bit more about the person in the shirt.

Sorry, rant over. See so many of these people in a work capacity somehow earning (and a pretty good fortune at that) from being awful at social media.

Save yourself some money, Wes. Do it yourself.

I don’t know, but it is the one area I sympathise with the board on. Sell or not sell, they are damned either way.

 

Well, either way they had better buy someone or this thread is going to get painful...

 

I thought the model was to buy younger and cheaper and sell on high, but to progress the level; i.e. arbitrary figures, Mane £11m, sell £34m, buy new £20m, sell £50m, buy new £30m, sell £70m etc whilst each time benefitting from better players coming for two years before selling on.

 

I'll be more concerned if we sell someone first. At this moment, this seems normal, we don't do business fast.

Am currently sailing into the North Sea. Strangely I bumped into my Saints contact before boarding this morning and had a good chat.
Apparently there has been approaches made to three players, two of which is in or at the World Cup. Meetings have been arrange post World Cup. The third person he wasn’t sure when the meeting was but he thought close. He would not elaborate I’m sorry to say. If eventually confirmed it will be interesting who these are. I except it’s gossip.......but he doesn’t usually let me down........
