Hold on a minute, is this Roo with a bit of transfer window optimism here? ****ing hell, mate, I've had more of an effect on you than I realised
The spurs fan in me needs to see that 90m from a reliable source. It’s such a huge step if it’s true.
Like I say, it’s a game changer. There’s only so much you can do if you aren’t paying anywhere near the money other clubs are. If £200k a week is true, having a stable manager, new stadium, and being a team in the CL, could help us attract players we never stood a hope with in the past.
Poch's new deal was £165k so I don't see any reason why Kane isn't on at least £200k now. Even disregarding the rumours of £200k at the moment, the logical side of thinking would be to ask "would Kane sign a new deal at Spurs if it was less than £200k?", as much as he seemingly loves us, he knows damn well that as (arugably) the best centre forward in Europe right now, he would command a massive salary anywhere else so I think it's pretty likely his new deal is worth at the very least £200k.
I don't believe it either. But we do know that long term contract extension usually goes hand in hand with wage increase. I am wondering whether potential sponsors are asking who the key players are going to be long-term (before potentially signing a deal with THFC) .
Look, “Mr Hate To Say I Told You So”, it’s still a big IF! You can brag when we know it’s correct! You can’t blame any spurs fan for having doubts over Levy paying £200k a week!!
Hate to say I told you so? Bro, have you seen how big-headed I am? I LOVE being the guy who told you so! All seriousness, history would say you'd find it unlikely but as I've said a few times now, this window more than any is completely different and we shouldn't be looking back at the past but instead looking to the future. We're three years into the mega TV deal, three years of CL football, new stadium round the corner PLUS Poch's recent comments at taking risks (and then signing a new deal to imply Levy agrees) all stems towards a very exciting window for us.
But yet we’re still linked with Johnny Evans, Xerdan Shaqiri, and Salomon Rondon, to name 3 relegation fodder players. One extreme to the other with us!
Do you seriously not rate them as players? Easy to say they're relegation fodder but Evans has three Prem titles to his name, Shaqiri won the treble with Bayern and Rondon won the Russian League with Zenit. As squad players go, they'd have definitely boosted the quality in depth. Leicester have got the bargain of the summer with Evans, £3.5m is an absolute steal, City and Arsenal made £20m bids last summer.
Don't worry, mate, I know my level. Transfer speculation is BTEC standard that even a simple lad like I can muster. I'm not ready for the A-Level match day stuff you're capable of.
You know what the saddest* thing is? With a midfield of Wilshire, El Neny and Xhaka, Fellaini would actually be an upgrade! *replace saddest with funniest.
I really want it to be true... From strikers Berkamp, Wright, Henry, Wiltord, Adebayor, RVP, Aubamiyang, Lacazette to ****ing Fellani pleeeeeeeeaaaaaassssssssseeeeee
Daniel Levy's always been scrupulous in keeping our wage spend below 60% of income, which makes us prudent and has enabled us to borrow a huge sum of money to build a stadium. Chelsea aren't able to borrow the money for themselves because they're still reliant on Abramovic to bail them out [£33m in 2015/16], nor are Everton, who are relying on the local Council to provide access to cheap funding and they're probably having to provide payment guarantees as well because Everton have no history of profit. We got the funding by being profitable for over a decade and we'll have the stadium next season to show for it.The 'ITK' is we may have sorted out the stadium sponsorship deals as well. That will be the total game changer as it could be that those could pay off he stadium borrowings in full over the lifetime of the agreements. Spurs have already doubled their income in the last 3 years and that wont be the end of it. In 2015/16 we had the third lowest wage to income ratio in the league - less than 50%. The additional non-domestic TV money [Nike shirt deal, AIA, CL money etc.] gives us enormous scope to increase wages and we have to do so to keep our top players. Joe Lewis and DL have long had a plan and it's working very nicely indeed and everything hinges on massively increasing our non-TV income and it's all started to come together. Mauricio Pochettino hasn't agreed to stay to watch all his hard work unravel. As Arsenal and Chelsea struggle, now is the time to up our game and cement the progress. It's all been about building to this moment and then leaping forward. The future is ours to make as we want. COYS.
I was taking the piss, referring to the fact that one minute we’re talking of Kane earning 200k a week, yet the next we’re looking in the bargain basement. They’re all fairly decent players to be fair, but I think we need to be aiming higher than those types, with the exception of Rondon. Wouldn’t mind signing him, as there won’t be too many options who’d play back up to Kane. If we’re looking at bringing in a player in Jonny Evans or Shaquiri’s playing positions, we should be looking for improvements, if possible. Or certainly players that will provide us with some further diversity. I just don’t see how signing them or similar players would be a step forward. Evans offers us nothing. Even his experience is irrelevant as we have vertonghen. To say that he’s won titles doesn’t offer enough to justify it IMO. And shaqiri doesn’t suit us. I just want us to use the money wisely and spend any available wage budget on players who add quality, not quantity.
