Hello and welcome to the new edition of the Prediction League...!! The regular posters will know that RAWMOK has stepped down after running the prediction league since it's inception and I have therefore volunteered to take over when the new season starts in August. But before then there is the small matter of the World Cup and I thought it would be good to have a prediction league running for the duration of the tournament. As before, everyone is welcome to play whether you just want to play the odd week or whether you are aiming for the title of World Cup Prediction League champion. The game weeks for the World Cup competition will be as follows: Week 1 - 14-18 June Week 2 - 23-24 June Week 3 (Last 16) - 30 June-3 July Week 4 (QFs) - 6-7 July Week 5 (SFs) - 10-11 July Week 6 (3rd/4th & Final) - 14-15 July The format of the predictions will remain the same as previous editions with the usual 3 sets of outcomes to predict. So here goes for the first set of predictions: GAME 1 ----------- Predict the scores for the following 8 fixtures Play your joker against your most confident prediction to double points Russia v Saudi Arabia Portugal v Spain France v Australia Argentina v Iceland Costa Rica v Serbia Germany v Mexico Brazil v Switzerland Tunisia v England GAME 2 - 'home' team is listed first --------------------------------------------------------- a) Name any one player to score for their home team in any of the above fixtures b) Name any one player to score for their away team in any of the above fixtures GAME 3 ------------ Bonus points - pick ONE game from the 8 listed score prediction fixtures in Game 1 and the total goals scored in that match will be added to your weekly total SCORING & RULES --------------------------- Game 1 - 3 points for each exact score prediction or 1 point for a correct result prediction (ie. home win, away win or draw). Play your joker against one of the fixtures to double your points for that fixture Game 2 - 2 points for a correct 'home' goalscorer and 3 points for a correct 'away' goalscorer Game 3 - goals scored in selected fixture will be added to your points total BONUS POINTS Game 1 - 5 bonus points for correctly predicting all 8 results. 2 bonus points for correctly predicting 3 or more scores Game 2 - 1 bonus point for correctly predicting both goalscorers POSTS CANNOT BE EDITED AFTER THE FIRST FIXTURE HAS KICKED OFF. Thanks for all the entries so far To clarify on TLL's question, the 'home' team is always listed first for any given fixture so in the following scenario Russia are the 'away' team even though they are technically playing at home: Uruguay v Russia Any other questions just give me a shout.
