the appointing of a manager roland discarded would mean a change in ownership is imminent. plus, he was the best manager we've had in over 10 years!
There is an expression in life that says never go back. I think we should adhere to that as regards Chris Powell.
Best stats of any manager since the Premiership years, the only manager out of 12 since Curbishley (13 if you count Riga twice) to win a promotion for Charlton. Some complain about the style of play under his management. I didn't hear many complaining when we won 30 games and took the L1 title with 101 points six years ago.
So a group of investors, who do not own Charlton, have offered the Charlton Managers job to the current manager of another L1 Club? How does that work then?
Don't know. Muir is flying back into the country today according to BB. There was talk of a meeting on this date a couple of weeks ago, and perhaps an announcement. Not certain I'd want to go to an important meeting hours after stepping off a long haul flight. Having said that I'm not sure where he's been (if you'll pardon the expression) - perhaps just on holiday somewhere sunny and not too far away.
Red Henry on CL has said that the Aussies bid has been rejected by the EFL. Now is the time for Murray to come out informing all Charlton fans of WTF is happening.
Duchatelet told ROT two weeks ago that if the takeover wasn’t done in two weeks he would have to appoint new staff to run the Marie Celeste in SE7. Fraeye ....Driesen .....Meire must be waiting anxiously by their phones today
FFS will this nightmare ever end...Is the hold up due to the two new board members attached to other clubs..? Really hope this takeover doesn't amount to cementing us as a feeder Club. To think we still have fans that are offended with the possibility of having rich powerful owners..
It particularly grates given the way Andrew Muir and his entourage ostenaciously paraded fhemselves at the Shrewsbury Play Off game. #GetTheBasicsRight
The whole take-over business is being handled so badly now that I would say there is a real danger that much of the relief and good will of Charlton supporters is going to have evaporated by the time it is actually announced. At present nobody knows who to blame - The Aussies, Duchatelet, the EFL? But the mood is rapidly descending from jaded impatience to real anger again I think. There will be little point the new owners coming in at some time in July and demolishing what little is left of the infrastructure at the Valley. By then it will be far too late to get anything done. Next season is beginning to smell of failure already. Some fans are probably already resigned to it being a "transition" season - which basically means no progress, just marking time until next summer. Fifteen members of our squad now have 1 year left on their contracts. At this rate we will not be hoping for even a coherent plan for promotion back to the Championship to emerge until Summer 2019, and the promotion itself to be in May 2020 at the very earliest - and that's if we don't melt down next season and end up in League Two. An entire season wasted and possibly worse, because of the totally needless months that have been wasted between the New Year and now. This take-over should have been completed with plenty of time for the new owners to use the summer to effectively relaunch the Club. Instead we will be looking at an unforgivable fiasco of a summer if this is not sorted out within a fortnight at the most.
