Potentially, yes, but potential has to be realised to make it worth anything,

Mourinho has failed to do that so far.

I think the club’s preferred option was that he didn’t go to a Prem rival, anyway.

Well it's already worth at least £90m in today's market. It's not like he scored 2 last season, he got 12 and 7 assists in 22 starts. He'd walk into your first XI and probably double those figures.

He wouldn’t walk in. No way. But MP obviously sees the potential there.

He’s not playing regularly and he looks far from happy.

    He's walk in. Easily.

Who's in your strongest first 11?

He’d need to replace Son probably. Not saying he wouldn’t be No.1 choice if he shapes up and starts to play to what is hopefully his full potential.

But, just walk in? No way.

He's ultimately better than Lamela, Sissoko and Moura so I see him walking in.

Son is a great player though.

He plays on the left, usually, when he plays?. Son does play there a lot - cutting in. But he is adaptable.

Martial would thrive across the front of any attacking three if given regular games.

Mourinho will be trying to swap him for Willian imo.

There's nothing Martial brings that Sonny hasn't already delivered so he would have a big challenge on his hands if he comes. Not straight into the first team.

It’s a fair comparison. A moody flouncer with rare flashes of brilliance or a ludicrously underrated grafter without as much natural ability. Would rather Son in my team.

Dier Hard and Spurlock like this.

none of the three you named are regular starters

our strongest startng 11 including defence and keeper is...
(Sanchez is in as Toby will leave)

    Lloris
    Davies Vertongen Sanchez Trippier
    Dier Dele Son Eriksen Dembele
    Kane

Wanyama and Winks were also prominent before their long term injuries.

I agree with NSIS...Martial is a good player with great potential but it is too simplistic to think he would automatically walk into our first team in my opinion.

You're probably right, if that's your first XI he'd probably just walk straight past them. <laugh>

    Genuine question...
out of the 3 attacking midfielders we play (Dier covers the defence and dembele/Wanyama win the ball back but rarely attack) who does Martial walk past to get straight into the team?
    Dele, Son or Eriksen?

well you're trying to shift dembele for starters so i'd expect dele or eriksen to drop into the role

Martial’s good and has great potential but definitely don’t walk into our XI right now, Son’s easily better.

I would have thought winks is being prepared for the role long term with Wanyama in the short term.

Don’t think Winks will ever be good enough to be first choice. Decent squad player but that’s about it.

So do you expect him to drop to a smaller club for less money just to sit on the bench
