Hourihane went from £3k p/w at Barnsley straight to £30k p/w at Villa apparently, utterly crazy financial management. Jedinak on £50k, McCormark £40k, Lansbury £40k, Kodija £35k, Chester £30k, Micah Richards, £50k, Gabby Agbonlahor £60k, Terry was on £100k! We certainly won't be able to afford their first teamers, but raiding their youth setup might be an option. If (or more likely when) administrators are called in, they'll probably be forced to take reasonable offers for anyone.
Maybe go back to Fortuna - they'd love to have him back and seems like he may want to go back from one of his tweets.
Confirmed FML - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-beat-rivals-to-sign-buendia-1-5550957 Edit - just seen this - 'However, the Canaries are understood to have secured Buendia’s summer signature, which is due to be announced in the coming weeks.'
I'm struggling to comprehend that they are paying all those players that much and without built in reductions now the parachute payments are drying up. Utter financial folly. OK our board might be limited and at times stupid, but that is one crazy level gamble that with luck should bite them and be a salutory lesson to others that FFP cheats may not only not prosper but could go to the wall and likely down to lge1 and beyond too. Bah!
I think that should be pretty good business. Obviously depending on how he settles in the country. He does sound and look like this kid has got something.
Supposedly they took out loans against next year's parachute payments, so they haven't even got those to help next season. They didn't even put clauses in players' contracts to reduce their wages if promotion wasn't achieved. It's utterly mad. Tony Xia's source/quantity of wealth is unknown/dubious at best, and the £4m a month he had to put into the club has dried up. I can understand pushing budgets and taking a bit of a gamble, but when Norwich did it we bought Wildschut! This is insanity.
Only that he'll have to earn the chance to play. If he can't especially to start with usurp an inexperienced Spanish/Argie adjusting to the British game then he isn't that ready for his first team stint. I'd love to see him playing regularly for us, but only when he's ready. That might be next season, it might be after another out on loan? The fact he got a go against Chelski, suggests that he wasn't too far off last season, I remain optimistic that he could get a look in, inspite of the competition. Bah!
You're not wrong, this looks like a very entertaining disaster to watch unfold, unfortunately I bet its the little man who ends up most out of pocket if they go into Admin. Bah!
Supposedly Fulham are still owed £6m for McCormack. I suspect despite their large Premier League payday, they see far more of that than the various small businesses who work with Villa.
#aintthatthetruth Edit - looks as though Villa might survive!! Aston Villa: Championship side reach deal with HMRC over £4m tax bill https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44399227
Not sure we can afford the luxury of having 4 players playing similar positions who we can only employ effectively in away games. Truth is we could probably do with getting rid of all of them, with the possible exception of Hernandez.
I think Murphy and Hernandez will stay, but Watkins will likely go to Bristol City for around £1m and Wildschut to Cardiff for around £2-3m hopefully. Buendia, Jarvis and Cantwell will provide further options during the pre-season.
I found this quote from Warnock, from when they announced Wildschut's January loan: "If we went up we would take him automatically. But we will have to discuss things with him if we don't go up. We are just glad to have him on board." I suspect Cardiff won't be too happy if they can't avoid buying him. He was a bit-part player at best for them this season, and Warnock publicly criticised him. If they do have to buy him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned/sold on this summer by them.
And would Wildshutt want to return to such a glorious welcome and manager so obviously unhappy to have him? .....I suppose he'd return her so, who's paying more? Bah!
I'd be fine if we just released Whiltchut and Watkins. They were so ridiculous signings at the time, and a lot of fans said it. Just get them off them wage bill. If we got money for either of them, it would be incredible.
