Breaking news on Sky https://news.sky.com/story/aston-villa-suspends-ceo-as-club-races-to-meet-hmrc-tax-bill-11395857 Do we laugh or do we lament how money is destroying football or wonder with so much money about how badly so many Clubs are run?
Laugh. However a number of the delusional should take note of the financial peril that can be faced when you spend on the never never gambling it will be ok. Be thankful we have somebody although far from perfect, is at least not willing to risk the clubs health and long term future.
Wait until we've sorted out our HMRC investigation and then p!ss ourselves uncontrollably. If we all p!ss ourselves enough and make it public we could then get a multi - million pound sponsorship deal from Tena.
They gambled big twice to get out of the Championship, and you'd have to suspect Villa were in a poor financial state when they went down. Next year will be very tough for them. I would think midtable could be a position Villa fans snap your hands off for. In terms of promotion, next year is anyone's guess. Stoke will have to dismantle their squad, as will Swansea, but they will be in the mix to come back. West Brom would be my bet to win it next year, based on them probably being able to keep quite a few of the more experienced players. Then you'll have the usual contenders in there.
I remember when these tossers were vile when Newcastle were relegated years ago What goes around, inbred ****ers
Laugh laugh laugh! Not just because of the 2009 jeering, but more because this seemed almost inevitable after they got taken over by a raving lunatic who said this after they'd just gone down: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/19/tony-xia-revamp-aston-villa-top-three-world-owner Well there's only 2 years gone, still 3 years for his plan to be one of thye world's top 3 clubs....
Just yesterday, I was considering starting a 'Sunny Villa' thread to sit in line with the 'Warm Glow' thread. Call me bitter and twisted, but I still recall our treatment at Villa when that Damien Duff own goal relegated us. My view of the 'Villains' has been tainted ever since. I don't want to see football clubs dying, not even Sunderland, but there is a certain amount of enjoyment to be had when I hear of Villa's struggles. Of course, if they had beaten Fulham, none of this would have been an issue. It does make you wonder though how these clubs can end up owing so much in tax. £8m? Disgraceful.
On a banter level, It's enjoyable that their fans are getting some stress. Oh the irony of their SOTC shout.
So apparently, they've "reached a deal" with HMRC https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44399227 still reckon there will be tears before bedtime
Notice that we made a provision in our last year accounts for potential tax claim as a result of Ongoing HMRC investigation. Didn’t allow for any penalties .Fair enough as we never get given them.
