Unpopular Saints opinions

Seems to be a bit of a trend on social media lately of ‘unpopular opinion’ threads, where people give an honest opinion that they maybe wouldn’t usually express, primarily because of how it would be received by the wider audience.

So let’s do a Saints one.

For example, I’ll start: we should be looking to replace Oriol Romeu and he isn’t as good as people want him to be.

Pochettino isn't yet one of the best managers in the world, and isn't even close to that level currently.

Our academy really is no where near as good as some fans like to make out.

Our support is pretty poor numbers wise, particuarly away from home and even the Skates two divisions below showed us up last season.

Whenever you sit, at any football ground including St Marys, you are never more than 12 seats away from a total numpty with anger-management issues who screams at their own team/manager, as if this helps anything.

Never more than 12. Average is probably more like 7.

 

Pellegrino was not the cause of our problems last season; he wasn't even that bad, the board let him down and the squad just wasn't good enough. It still isn't.

Despite his invisibility cloak, Gabbiadini was our best striker last year. That's still not a ringing endorsement, I know.

Jack Stephens isn't a Premier League central defender and likely will never be. Not even as a backup.

 

Bit Harsh on Stephens............... thrown in at the deep end with a poor manager for guidance. With the right coaching he will make the grade..........

Fraser Forster isn't as bad as people make out.

We should be looking at replacing Charlie Austin as our main striker.

 

We should sell Lemina. He’s not that good and couldn’t form a decent partnership with Oriel

 

Can't agree with you on this.........He is the best midfielder we have at the moment. Also the fact that approaches have been made for his services from a couple of top clubs must tell you something. Nothing I can confirm admittedly but based on well informed rumours.
