And he might get into the starting line up because he scored against Nigeria - in other words exactly the wrong reasons for selecting a defender! Similarly, how many games did Walnut get selected as a winger because he scored that hattrick?

Martin Cahill would have probably done a better job.

Just shows their depth of squad that he's not going, doesn't it? Surprised they couldn't fit him in somewhere, though.

It seems there was just one place available for either him or Brandt. It puts pressure on Brandt, but he must be seen as more likely to deliver if called upon than Sane.
I wonder if the Germans see him in the same way as we view Sterling? He has all the advantages playing in a dominant club team with skiiful players around him, but how good/reliable is he when is taken out of that environment? The coach didn't appear to want to take risk that he might not be all that great.

From everything that I've read, it appears that Brandt's outperformed Sane for the national team, both on the pitch and in training.
It makes you wonder how many of these decisions are based on things that the general public never get to see.

How many managers leave out players from tournaments just because they're a twat?
"How many weeks do I have to spend with that bloke? **** that."

Was reading somewhere that the reason was because a lot of the other players have been shocked with Sane's arrogance...so the gaffer dropped him

Edit: Just seen the post above from Pnp

Sane has his own face tattooed on his back.

Imo that’s a lot worse than Sterling’s gun tattoo

Wonder if they both got them done by the same artist.

And when Germans find you arrogant, you know you've been acting like a twatsack...

Some Germans have a sense of humour, even if a bit arrogant.

I was on a flight from Frankfurt into Heathrow, after a long haul Asmara-Frankfurt business class flight in which I quaffed copious amounts of shampoo and reisling.

The Lufthansa pilot came on the PA and said. Ve are in a stack and may havecto circle for up to 45 minutes, jis voud never happen in Germany.

Being pissed, I called over a stewardess and asked her to give the pilot a message. "I bet your father used to circle over London every night in 1941"

To my suprise a message came back, "you are wrong sir, it was my grandfather, not my father". Cracked me up.

In the 90s, BNR Europe were doing a telecoms
colloboration with a German consortium that
involved Dornier. The New Southgate site was
an old STC site, which was a target during the
war (the site air raid shelters were still partially there -
    entrances etc) .

    Somebody there allegedly said :

last time anyone here had anything to do with Dornier.
they were dropping bombs on us.

Today's "Well duh..." headline: Thibaut Courtois warns international teammates about Harry Kane - yes, that includes the three international teammates who see him in training every day.

I've been far from Danny Rose's biggest fan since his ridiculous behaviour last year, but I think he's right this time.
We all know that it's a farce for FIFA and UEFA to bang on about being inclusive and embracing all people, while handing the World Cup to Russia and Qatar.
It won't change, but players shouldn't have to put up with that sort of ****, let alone have their families face it.

£16k for drinking redbull. £22k for persistent racism. Laughable.
The policing should be fun, too: http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/16268156.Russian_Cossacks_to_stop_gay_World_Cup_fans_kissing/
Don't go being gay now or you might get whacked by a twat in a silly hat.

I don't disagree that these countries shouldn't be anywhere near hosting the World Cup. I wonder about the wisdom of individuals sticking their heads above the parapet. Especially Rose, who appears to be a bit 'off the reservation' of late. He's had a difficult season, doesn't appear fit and is concentrating on the wrong thing here.

I don't think it'll serve him or England well over there and stuff like this is probably best left until after the tournament, no matter how right he is.

Anything that he said after the tournament would probably be seen as sour grapes, though.
He'll get some stick for this, but he'd probably get stick anyway.
He might not be the right man to say this stuff, but I think that somebody should and nobody else is stepping up.

I think that's my problem. He's really not the right bloke to do it. Gary Neville's the bloke you want for stuff like this.

  20. Haven’t seen the context of these comments, but I imagine the media focused on him as a result of his previous personal experiences in Serbia.
Agree with you that he’s not in a strong position to be diverting his attention away from his fitness and performances on the pitch, but it’s a complete joke that Russia was ever awarded a major tournament with it’s appalling record on all aspects of Human Rights. FIFA corruption rules!!
