Funny how you wrongly assume that it’s my club that I’m bothered about when it comes to the overseas TV cash share.

Also funny how you assume that we’d somehow massively lose out to the mighty red ****e if the cash was 35% split on performance.

You make it sound like the rest are begging crumbs off the Lairds table. Patronising ****e.

fyi tobes - I think the cash should be dealt out equally - the rights are sold as the Premier League as an entity and not x, y and z from the Premier League and I've not said anywhere here that I think otherwise.

My comments have mostly been about overseas viewers watching the PL because of it's competitiveness. I think it's more popular because we were in their first a long time ago and for the other reasons I've stated.

The two points you make about my false 'assumptions' are a load of garbage. The sugar daddy comment is generic for any fan with the prospect of mega bucks coming in - see Hull as an example.

imo lfc should get all the cash as spurs will only hoard it, Utd waste it, will get frozen by USA sanctions at chelsea and city don't need it.

I disagree - I don’t think overseas fans want to watch Burnley vs Stoke. The big 6 are the main attraction.

Very sad that my club is one that is leading this tbh.
Cash from the tv rights should be split equally end of imho.

If overseas only want to see the top six let them decide if they want to go it alone in a six team league and be done with it.

Pure business/greed. Tbh it is this stuff that is starting to taint my enjoyment of the game. I have seen others say similar, starting to edge that way now :(

You're right, but the big 6 still need the others to be good enough for the league to be competitive.

Of course they are but the rights pertain to the premier league and that consists of more than 6 teams. Ayre wanted us to negotiate our own overseas tv rights and I think some or all of the other big 6 [is that's what were calling them now] want the same. Not sure that's fair either as we need all the other teams in the league in order for us to compete as a league so it's basically using them for our own ends. If the Super League ever takes off we can negotiate what we like then. But unless and until that happens .......

Are they though? Tottenham have only been part of that for a few years. I wouldn't be surprised if Everton had a bigger following.

Which then makes you think it should be spread evenly, whose to say Fulham or Wolves don't break in like Tottenham?

Frankly there should be SOME means to assess who is in demand and have a minimum amount of matches each team gets.

I know already teams are assured a minimum of games on tv

One thing I've read which I don't think anyone's mentioned is this -

''There is even concern that if the current top six do not get their way, they will refuse to allow their television rights to be sold collectively when the UK deal next comes up for renewal in three years’ time and will instead seek to go to market individually.''

There's a game changer right there.

When I lived in America every single Liverpool game was on TV, it sucks how it is in the UK.

    Its just political.

There's nothing to say that the power of collective bargaining isn't buying these clubs a far better deal right now.

For example I am SURE theres really only 4 clubs with big followings.

Spurs would be cutting their own throat right now trying to get an individual deal.

The reality for me is these "far east" fans are fickle. If we take a look at LFC tours we could see hysteria when suarez and gerrard toured and LFC booked a similar tour the year after and nobody was bothered... you need STARS and you need success.

My view is Utd, cheslea, probably city and us (just about) can name our price BUT its a massive effort to negotiate individual deals across all markets

The collective bargaining is the best way to go. This is IMO all baout taking more moeny and kepeing the small clubs down.

My god... today wolves can come up and buy a 35mil right back. Southampton can play silly buggers (nearly getting themselves relegated like idiots) over a 70mil CB. If small clubs can do this and you can't buy a decent player for less than 50mil then the marekt has inflated by what 125% over 8 years?

In 2010 or 2011 it was about 20mil

    In 2014 or 2015 it was 30mil

    Now in 2018 its 50mil.

I think it's sad that football has become a business first and entertainment second. It used to 'belong' to the working class, now you need a healthy bank balance to be able to go to the game never mind all the replica shirts and memorabilia malarkey. Money is ruining the game. The only competition I want to see is on the field, not who can get the most out of tv rights etc.

I agree that money/greed has ruined and is ruining the game, but at the start of the Premier League we were the richest club in the country(yes richer than Utd), yet the club somehow missed the boat when it came to the modernisation of the game in England and allowed Utd and Arsenal to move ahead financially, that showed in the 90's and the 000's in terms of success in league terms.
While the money in today's game is obscene to the likes of us brought up in the days of "the working mans game" it's important that the club make as much as they can in money terms to keep up with Utd, Arsenal and the nouveau riche Chelsea and City, Spurs will be a wealthier club when their new stadium starts paying dividends.

If you can't beat them, join them.:emoticon-0105-wink:
