early kick offs for class I games was a well established occurrence. our derby has been regularly affected.

the fact is that 12:30 slot was unpopular and IS unpopular with clubs and fans domestically. nobody likes it but it's there now and getting big teams even after internationals purely for those markets.

we played FOUR times last season after internationals in that slot. you get zero time to prepare.

it's certainly not for away fans unless trip is quite local as well.

The 3 pm blackout was nothing to do with the PL teams. It’s to do with the lower leagues and the back bone of British football and it’s been like that since the 60’s.

The ‘smaller’ PL teams don’t need their share of the overseas revenue to ‘survive’ either. The PL product needs a fairly level playing field in order to survive....

It’s not unpopular with me, I like it.

The slot was about the 3 pm block, the end. The fact that they use the slot to put on games that people will want to watch, I’m shocked at that news <doh>

here's what makes a mockery of the whole thing.

    wolves.

35mil right back about to be bought.

add that to what was done last year.

how's that fair to anyone.. big or small... yet another dapper Dan in and money sloshing about.

35mil for a right back and you are just fresh out of the championship......

Huddersfield achievements even with several foreign lads and a coach is some achievement next to it.

The tv 3 p.m. blackout came about in the 60's [when not so many people even had tv]. The Football League Chairmen wanted higher attendances at actual games, they didn't want revenue to suffer - we're talking about the days when all games kicked off at 3 p.m. The idea was very good at the time, obviously things have changed a lot.

It's probably me being a bit dim <laugh> ... but what did you mean in your last comment when you said 'it's the other way round' - what's the other way round?

    pointless in other words.

reality is if I want to see game I see the game. if i want to pay to go live I pay to go live.

if I want to pay sky high fees for sky for little enough extra on top of a good stream then I can do this too.

the terrible service provided to UK tv viewers compared to what is given elsewhere isn't right.

It wasn't pointless at the time. It is now. You're right about UK tv viewers getting a raw deal as well.

It was my fault really, read your comment and interpreted it funny

You said its funny how the small clubs need the big clubs on tv so theres more PL revenue.

I said it's the other way round in the sense that i thought big clubs being on tv more, detracted from the small clubs as they would be starved of new fans.

I then did a 180 and basically said that clubs spend as much revenue as they get so yes they would go under if the tv revenue went to zero.

    <laugh>.

I see roma have had away fans banned from next game and a second game ban suspended for 2 years probation.

I find the issue with these is who gives a **** in a group.match anyway?

at some point UEFA has to get tough on these things.

how many times are we going to get for flares and issues around games.

to a fan 20k is nothing to the club so they will carry on letting off flarea

The point I was making was that live football on tv was banned because, back in the day when all games in every division kicked off at 3 p.m., it was felt that fans would stop going to support their team in favour of staying home and watching the bigger teams of the era live on tv. You couldn't do both as all fixtures ran at exactly the same time.

Fast forward and the football powers that be [whoever they may be] need fans to watch live football on tv in order to create and sustain a market that draws in the mega money that is keeping the 'lesser' teams afloat.

"while both clubs were charged for crowd disturbances based on incidents that took place outside the stadium."

So one clubs followers were looking for trouble and caused mayhem as well as the terrible injury to Sean Cox, are the ones on the receiving end supposed to not protect themselves?

When we've played away games in Europe recently our fans have been battered by opposing fans(,Europa League final and v Utd away spring to mind), it's not a crime to buy a ticket for the wrong end, but it's a crime for someone to punch **** out of you for doing so, yet Uefa in their wisdom don't see it as supporters wanting to see their club play, they tar the ones at the end of the punches the same as those that threw them first.

Mate if we are looking for things to be fair, UEFA is the last place we'll find it. It's mind boggling how they come to their decisions.

if guys can wander in and do that how long til the Bournemouths and Huddersfield will drop down cos they can't sustain no matter how hard they try.

or I suppose more to the point how long til everton find they cant compete

Who have they bought like as I cant see anything about a £35m fullback?

They’ll have to fall within the PL FFP but it’s their choice if they spend their first incremental £120m , note incremental.....as they see fit.

Sort of following on from your point re. Wolves. It's funny how some are adamant that the tv money has to be dealt out evenly to keep the league 'competitive' yet are over the moon if/when a sugar daddy owner is linked to them - suddenly money being equal doesn't matter <laugh>
