I was a bit surprised to hear Konsa is keen to join a Premier League Club. Surely he must know he will be lucky to play in a handful of games (probably League Cup). If he wants to play football then a modest sized Championship Club is about as far up the ladder as he should be looking at this stage of his career in my view. PS: My 'like' was for the first paragraph in your post Royston.. I don't 'dislike' the second paragraph - I don't have any opinion on it at all.
This is from a poster on CL. Not me I add as I know nothing about Football or Charlton. Right update on EFL. Appendix 3 completed and returned, BUT with some qualifications over possibly two 'relevant persons' - one of which is in relationship to 'Association between Clubs'. I can only assume that the EFL have gone into detailed examination of all the members of the consortium and there is an issue with a couple of them who may (or may not) have joined the party late in the day.
Angel Dust reckons it’s a consortium of Aussies, and some of them are small time. “Putting in as little as £2-3m” Just the sort of owner collective we don’t need.
If this is true, the Aussies must have had trouble raising the cash. Muir is reported as being worth a lot, but if that's tied up it doesn't mean he has the readies in the way that A bramovic has!
This is a post from a new member on another forum (their first post). It was posted at about 5am UK time - 1pm to 4pm in Australia depending on which time zone, though the poster does not specifically say they are in Australia. I am a Australian interested in the developments of the take over yet to be EFL approval. Andrew Muir is on holiday/business till Friday so nothing will happen till then, Id say at least Monday. Andrew Muir is a successful business man just received 800 million for the Good Guys franchise sold to JB Hifi. So the money is there but a businessman will always talk to investors. Gerald Murphy is very good at team building and networking has been heavily involved in Essendon Football club. (AFL) and the Rebels rugby franchise in Melbourne ( Rugby ) so no beginner in business. Australian Football Consortium will play under New UK registered business Echidna Acquisition owned by Andrew Muirs and Gerald Murphy and those member of the Australian Football Consortium. The member of the Australian Football Consortium will have no power over the club and no voting power. It is purely an financial investment as in the future this club could go on the UK stock Exchange. So the Australian men are very well off Financially with no debts an easy decision for the EFL and great for the security of our club and it local members. So in English wait till next week when Andrew Muirs has returned to England, Be patient. This was posted after several other members had posted messages expressing concern that the Andrew Muir take-over consortium was short of funds, and therefore would not be a good option for Charlton Athletic's future. Fellow supporters can make up their own minds how credible this post is, but it sounds genuine enough to me and the tone/content seems reasonable enough. However, if the members of the Australian Football Consortium will have no power over the Club and no voting power, why would they be a cause for the EFL not to pass the take-over through? Perhaps the ongoing delays are being caused by something else.
I take it you are not convinced then? If this is a wind-up it's not a very provocative one. The advice given at the end of the post - essentially to be patient and wait until next week - is not exactly what many fans will want to hear as we have been told 'next week' dozens of times now. But one way or another, there really are only a couple of weeks left before our 2018-19 season begins to be written off before it begins, should there be no clarification on this take-over one way or another. We cannot anymore be asked to just wait and wait indefinitely.
By and large, Aussie Addick is repeating what quite a few other have said, including James Seed. His latest classic yesterday was "I hope it happens next week ....but it might not" Of far more concern is the Aussies ambition for the club, linked to their blatantly obvious struggle to come up with the funds to buy it. The "takeover" attracts attention seekers & the emotionally needy it seems...
All that information posted on that Forum we already know. I am sick and tired of all the false dawns. This limbo is deeply affecting our Club. We are like a rudderless Ship that is stranded in the middle of an Ocean. It is becoming desperate to conclude this Takeover, otherwise we can right off another season.
He was an Australian interested in the takeover in the first paragraph, and in the last paragraph he says “our club”. Also the spelling and gramma is bexleyboy esque. WUM.
So they've 'got the money', yet the first official statement about the takeover is 'it should happen in February'. 'Should happen in February' - That's what set the alarm bells ringing for me.....What a **** time to take a Club on. Said it before, but the right owners would've had their feet under the table well before January.
Remember it's Roland they're dealing with. The other Muir walked away because he wanted too much money.
£40m is the widely quoted payment that Duchatelet is getting from the Aussies, £25m up front and the rest in add ons. Muir is paying that based on potential rather than based on the dire mess the Club is in right now, on and off the field.
There is talk that a Yank is willing to pay £75m for Aston Villa which is what the good Doctor paid for it a few years ago.
It's all relative, if a multi billionaire was looking, £40m would be peanuts. For others potential has to be the key...The pot of gold in the PL is huge.
