And if he signs a new contract after the world cup, youll be claiming hes the best centre half in the world of course
He still has 3 years left on his contract,no need to sign a new one.I made no comment about his ability,so don't know what your strops about (wrong time of the month ? ) just pointed out if he doesn't play his value won't double.
Perspective so youre all wetting your knickers cos you might get a trouble making coach from the Argies and a free agent from Hull ?
Good morning Matt Hopefully they have dangled the appropriate carrot for Bielsa to take up the post at ER making him the promises that are required to create a new Leeds United set-up capable of achieving success in the future
Pontus has every right to say what he feels about the club after he was originally made promises under Cellino's ownership that Leeds United had serious ambitions aiming for a place in the premiership. Radz comes along employing rookie coaches, they deploy a liability as a captain & then lumber him to play alongside the likes of Pennington, Cooper & Shaughnessy. Is it any wonder his form & confidence dipped ? If Pontus makes a move to a premiership club I wouldn't blame him after last seasons fiasco as he doesn't want to be trudging about in the championship with a bunch of dead legs seeing his ambition & career go up in smoke ! David Harvey for me
1964 has a point. Jansson is a hot head who shoots from the hip, but although contracted players talking about other clubs’ interest in them isn’t really the done thing, I don’t have a problem with him saying it as it is. How long is reasonable to give a club to deliver on their end of the bargain whilst you watch your prime years pass you by. Ask snoddy. Stockdales stock (apologies) has fallen... if brum don’t want him? But clearly we need competition or back up for BPF. Think the prob with Gunn like a lot of these loan deals for prospects will be the loaning club expecting guarantees/clauses the player will play.
Will still cross fingers on Biesla but it'll only work if both sides are honest about want they want and can offer - would rather he turned us down if we can't deliver what he wants than lie to get the deal done and then have him leave at a more critical time. Presume with pre-season due to start in a couple of weeks that there'll be a deadline and that there are back up options and also hope some of the more inexperienced left-field names that have been mentioned are because they are people they are looking at for Biesla's assistants to follow him rather than back-ups. Think I would slightly prefer Gunn to Stockdale as he's the better keeper and keeps BPF more in contention for medium term and guess he's be an easier get from citeh if we do get Bielsa. Jansson only been saying what we've been saying and have no issue with it - if we show ambition he'll stay and then I'll be happy on both counts. Think new manager and a signing like Hernandez would help on that score (hope we get Hernandez and will only be annoyed if he goes to someone we should be competing with this year like Villa - if he goes to a premier club on much bigger wages then that would be understandable) MARTYN
Here are some stats from Popey, Hay and Mike Teakdesk. Bielsa's last contract was worth 8m. When he left Lille, he was paid 12m compensation for the last 18 months of his contract.
Re bielsa and the excitement around him. I think those showing caution with the excitement have a point. It’s a big name but there are caveats with him as their are with any manager that would come to us. The wagner’s etc have shown us that you don’t need championship experience to succeed, so if the bielsa deal comes off on balance you have to say that we’ve got an internationally respected coach whose sides play positive football... it’s a statement of intent. Doesn’t mean it will work though, as it hasn’t for him recently. I read a lot about good managers and bad managers from posters on a variety of forums who don’t know the people or understand the circumstances they worked under. A is a hero because he got B promoted, x is a numpty because he got y relegated. Most managers that have done the rounds have periods of success and periods of failure. Alan pardew seems to go from win streak to lose streak. The psychology of team sports and the fine margins between success and failure are hard to unravel. But Some managers seem consistently able to set up sides that don’t play pretty football but are efficient and grind out results, where everyone knows their job. An Allardyce for example would be worth every penny of his huge salary if he got us up. With Bielsa my primary concern would be, could he get his methods across with a translator to our core of uk players who still think tactics are little white mints. But never a dull moment with Leeds and if he comes, Bielsa should make for an interesting time... could go great could be a Lille.
Point of order. Whilst it may be commonplace for Millwall supporters to wear knickers, us Leeds United supporters are real men and wear proper men's undercrackers. Indeed, some on here are of such a vintage that they are still wearing white Y-fronts, and I'm guessing a few might have made the massive leap to coloured Y-fronts.
