Morning all! Just to say that Moroccan wine is somewhat underrated in our experience. Will be looking to add a bottle or two to our rack... alas no room for a cellar Have a great day all.
Queso Laso = Que Sol aso (the heat) Cheese here is good. Bit of a dispute with Spain and Mexican Manchego mind. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeand...-makers-in-mexican-standoff-over-famed-cheese
Morn'in Dave and all. Another perfect day here. Not too hot. Light breeze. Although the locals keep saying a Levante (wind from the Sahara that brings sand and is generally strong for 3 or 4 days) is due. But is an evil wind that ................... and the wind/kite surfers will love it Enjoyed the England performances yesterday (cricket and soccer). So TSM for me today to see England build an unassailable lead. But first I need to prepare a chinese for my Spanish family. While they have Chinese in Spain it is more a fusion and lacks that …. something. Enjoy one and all whatever you get up to
Morning all, bright and sunny at present but there is an orange alert for storms this afternoon and evening. The temperature is only around 27°C and normally it has to be hotter to trigger storms. Been reorganising our outside dining area, and despite lots of sweeping with a hard brush the paving still looks dirty. A friend said that I needed her pressure washer that would clean it all up in no time at all. She brought it round yesterday evening and it has been sat just inside the front door overnight. This morning there is a distinct smell of horse in the house. I think she must use it to clean out her stable.
Just returned from the baker, Sunday morning ritual for many with the pastries on display very tempting. My journey took longer than usual as I was held up behind a very large tractor and trailer, not carrying bales of hay or straw, but the town band all playing happily away. The town band is unlike bands in the UK, it has just about every instrument that you can blow into going, making the overall sound rather strange. It is designed to get the children involved with music, and judging by the numbers now, that idea is a success. Good to see a lot of adults out on the roadside supporting the idea. There is always something going on in this rural backwater if you know about it..
Just started on the patio cleaning with the pressure washer and the thunder storm arrived. Hail stones have turned the paving white, it almost looks like snow. Will it vanish over the horizon? Retired into the house for something to eat, and will wait for the outcome.
Mornin' Dave. Must say your weather seems rather settled of late. Not sure I left the UK for you to have good weather. I expect to be basking in the sun here while looking at the forecast for the UK - endless drizzle and mizzle Anyway Monday and back to normality for me - sorting the UK accountant. I wonder what random number for tax to be paid he'll generate this year Enjoy one and all
Morning all. Storms are not far away although it is just fine outside at present. Judging by the flashing clocks on the electrical appliances we had a power cut during the night. Loss of power was quite common 10 years ago, but since then there has been steady progress on putting cables underground, and it is quite rare to have cuts now. One person that I know had his house go up in flames after a lightning strike set fire to a junction box next to the property. He had only just bought it and had little inside, but it took months to sort out which insurance company had to pay to rebuild it. He finished up with a house that looks similar, but is built to modern standards with decent insulation.
Well that is another tale. Yes I did start, but then the hail came and I called things off. The machine had been set to maxi pressure which I didn't know, and I pointed it at the base of a wall to remove some moss. Moss vanished, but into the air. Seems that it travelled some distance, as I was berated by Mme who was splattered. She was not best pleased. I intend to have another go today if the weather allows, but just moving multiple large pot plants around is taking some time as well as effort. The area that did get done looks amazing, fresh and clean, but I wonder how long it will stay like it.
I have just come across "Hornet Heaven" https://hornetheaven.com/series-1/ very cleaver , Is anyone here connected with this .Well worth spending the close season on this.
Morning all, our weather has taken another strange turn as we now have heavy mist, almost fog. One very heavy period of rain yesterday afternoon, but then it heated up again, hence the mist I think. Now have to decide what task to get on with when I put my coffee cup down. Maybe make another cup will win.
Well Dave and I seem to be having the best of the weather. In northern Spain there is massive flooding. And a lot of the bad stuff you have seen OFH. Here in Cadiz a beautiful sunny day. Back in blightie my brother will receive my delivery of Kendal Mint Cake and fudge from the Lake District. The tracker says 9-10 am delivery so I'll call and wake him up very soon. Won't make me overly popular but needs must. Half of it will be sent on to a mate in India (a mountaineer who took us up the Himalayas). How it did that without Kendal Mint Cake is beyond me Anyway if he likes it we may form the Kendal Indian Import Company Now I've invited my brother to eat some and save the rest for when I get back to the UK in September. Mmmmmm not sure they'll be a lot left Enjoy one and all
