Shaquiri confirms he is leaving Stoke. Don't know what I think about him coming here really....I need to pace myself....I seem to have reached the 'For God's sake, sign someone Saints' phase a bit early this season.

Paradoxically, that makes him a less likely signing, because it means that more substantial teams (plus West Ham) will be lining up to offer him big wages to serve as depth. Not sure that I'm upset about that.

And his mate van Hire. I am glad we are not signing his other team mate Van de Graph he may be a bright spark but he can also be a bit of a shocker. I would sign either van Ity but he can be a bit arrogant although to be honest the one I would really like to sign is Van Quish as we would never lose a game. You can tell I am bored to death down here in the matriarchy called Wales with my in-laws.

It's almost worth someone signing him, just to sell him again (eg after one season) - potentially for about a 200% profit.

So if he was to sign for an Arsenal or a Chelsea, I wouldn't be surprised. He isn't good enough for them, in my view, but a nice money making exercise for them (and in the meantime, he'd presumably be willing to accept more reasonable wages, if exchange for getting such a big move up from Stoke).

 

How about Ollie Barkley, anyone? His career seems to be going backwards very, very quickly at the moment, but it would be good if he could get his head together and reverse that movement!!

 

How on planet Earth can you say that Steven Gerrard was overrated? He was a phenomenal player, and even managed to carry a bang-average Liverpool team to Champions League glory (they had Steve Finnan, Djimi Traore, and Milan Baros in the starting line up!). His all-round game was superb, and during his prime was getting Le Tissier-esque goal-scoring numbers every season. So many professionals credit him as the toughest opponent that they came up against, including our very own David Prutton.

 

An actual rumour? (Other than some free agent defender from the Italian lower leagues, who is also interesting cash strapped and non-PL Aston Villa). Well it's a start, regardless of whether true.
