The summer is always brimming with possibilities. It can be quite exciting thinking of your possible new line ups. To be a bit more realistic, iIdont think we should be looking for replacements. More for quality additions if we sign belly and fekir, we still need to keep lala and one of ings or origi. If this season showed us one thing , a few injuries and we where in the ****.
Ings is the better player in my opinion but origi is young and not so injury prone and hopefully can improve more.
I don't think keita or ox offer the same as lallana. They are strong runners and direct. Fekir looks most similar, the issue is, so we sign fekir, we **** lallana off, it turns out fekir doesn't settle ands a bit **** but you haven't got a replacement because you got over excited and sold his competition.
I've got a lot of time for ings, but I do wonder if it's more sympathy and wanting him to get a go rather than actual talent. Origi on the other hand, I don't like, but think he has got somethin in him. Out of the two iIthink he could actually turn into a fantastic player
A firing Origi would be a great addition to the squad as he should be capable of playing right across the front 3 but will we see that origi or the lacksadaisical one we loaned out ?.
If fit he may have made a difference. He has the ability to create AND score. Not his fault he had a nightmare season with injury.
They’re great dribblers, good passers and offer a goal treat. As well as offering very high workrate.
He would have made very little difference had he been fully match sharp. He has been fit and available for a while ...
Lallana’s role in the team is the attacking mid in the midfield trio. If we get Fekir, it would mean we have Fekir and Ox who play that role. Does Lallana get in? I don’t mind keep Lallana as a squad option - just don’t see how he fits into our strongest XI and maybe our second strongest.
C'mon Jimmy, Lallana just didn't have the time to get match sharp. He was training but was used out of necessity due to our midfield injury crisis
We have 2-3 years of evidence that Lallana offers nothing when playing in the front 3. His only real period of quality was the first 3-4 months of last season where he was brilliant. But that’s been proven to be nothing more than a purple patch.
Nabil Fekir Set To Have Medical At Liverpool Today Ahead Of Transfer please log in to view this image Jacque Talbot in Football Liverpool will continue their rampage in the transfer market this summer by reportedly snapping up Lyon star Nabil Fekir. It's not like the Reds are short of attacking options; Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino becoming arguably the strongest attacking force since MSN last season.
Think he's poor as a forward, hasn't got the legs for it. He's more of a link man, but Ox and if we get Fekir are both better and younger than Lallana. I'd be tempted to see what we could get this summer as I don't think he'll be worth much come next and other than depth wont offer much.
I think this is more what I meant, at the minute we have a very good first 11. Our second string is very patchy quality wise. I dont think weve got enough players in any position to have a third choice. Lallana is a good player, if we are going to compete in numerous competions we need third choice players. If we keep improving the first 11, the current 11 will naturally drop down the pecking order, but if you keep them it provides continuity rather than constantly having to buy squad players just to fill the gaps.
Really don’t rate Ings at all. We’d be better getting rid. Origi is young and would have been a good option on the bench - he at least has some pace and hold up the ball. He’s scored 10 goals in consecutive seasons for us so there is the goal threat. Such a shame he hasn’t kicked on.
Interesting comparison. Imo, both at their best are opportunist chance takers in the box. We don't play in a way that exploits their talents to the full. Kuyt was good enough and willing enough to do a job on the wing, but it wasn't ideal, and his strength there was more to do with his tracking back and defending. I don't really want to see us try and do that with Ings, as I don't see him being very effective. If we put him on we need to play differently to get the best from him, but I'm not sure we can do that.
