The issue of The Big 6 helping themselves to more of the foreign TV rights money is going to be debated at a scheduled PL meeting on Thursday. John W Henry [who I would be very willing to believe is a lizard wearing an ill-fitting human suit] has put his cold blooded head above the parapet and said...

“It’s a disagreement based entirely on governance. Everyone in the league knows what the large clubs bring to the value of foreign rights, but the large clubs do not have the votes to change something that should have changed as media rights changed over the past 25 years.”

“It’s hard to imagine this continuing much longer. In America, where we have closed leagues, you can argue for these types of arrangements, but it’s much more difficult to ask independent clubs to subsidize their competitors beyond a certain point when you have relegation and especially with the way media is rapidly changing and being consumed today.”

WTF is he talking about? Does that make any kind of sense to anyone?

To me, it sounds like someone justifying something they want very badly indeed, by dragging in something that they have absolutely zero understanding of......like the majority of ladies using the offside rule to justify buying those new shoes or Donald Trump on any subject, apart from tits and ass.

I was clear on what he said up to difficult to ask independent clubs to subsidize their competitors beyond a certain point when you have relegation and especially with the way media is rapidly changing and being consumed today. Then I'm lost.

And by the way Trump has zero understanding of tits and ass - he appears to believe he has a right to touch them any time he wants!

He knows what they are, though and thus far, he can touch them any time he wants and brag about it in the media.

John W. seems to think that relegation is some kind of 'get rich quick' scheme or EU subsidised hand out.

I don't think he is right but what he is trying to say is that if you run a competitive league where you run the risk of being relegated then you need better rewards for success to balance the risk. If no-one can be relegated as in most US sports then the risk is lower so the rewards can be too.

It's exactly what UEFA have done with the EL prize money for clubs at the other end of the table. Boost it up to protect clubs, like Arsenal, Chelsea and very often Liverpool, who didn't have what it takes to get into the CL. Nobody really gave a **** about it, until the money was seriously upped and they chucked in a CL place.

That whole competition is a parachute drop payment, especially the third place teams dropping into it from the CL. Maybe Liverpool should be excluded from getting their snouts in that trough? He'd ****ing squeal like a pig if that happened.

Liverpool aren't in any risk of being relegated and the parachute payment was introduced to protect clubs that were relegated from going out of business. Clubs like Bournemouth, Burnley, etc couldn't cope with 75% of their income disappearing overnight. They deserve some protection, don't they?

If you took away that level of revenue from pretty much any business, it would be insolvent. There's risk and almost ocean going certainty. Current performance suggests that the parachute payment doesn't give that much of an advantage....

A lot of the clubs that have come straight back up were comparatively very well funded by other means and it's not that common an event for clubs to bounce straight back.

The UEFA tournaments are nothing more than an attempt to
engineer as many mass spectator games as possible, with the
selling of sponsor/ad rights that go with it

As for PL "parachute" payments, I would accept that on a
'prudence' basis. Specifically those clubs that are relegated
but well run (decent wage bill as % of revenues etc) could
be subsidised a bit while those who gambled the house and
    lost should not be rewarded.

His mum won't be angry with him, she may be a little hurt that he couldn't confide in her but a big hug and cuddle, perhaps a few tears will see that one off.

It's interesting that he states how he will react to any racist jibes, 100% right in my view. Harry Kane, as captain, has to step up to the mark and support him, but I'm sure he will, Harry has had his low periods as well when out on loan and things not going right. I think he is exactly the right man for the job. Good choice Gareth.

It sounds like Spurs could have done more than they actually did, I think the club might need to have a look at themselves.

Come on Danny, we are all behind you.

    COYS!!!
