He sat down and said that he wasn't going to be signing a new contract. That's a discussion, of sorts! <laugh>

  12. I got confused. I thought you were Stan.

I did think it odd, at the time, that Stan would have asked me such sensible questions.

Anyway, I'm glad we've cleared that up, and that any hint of wummery has been avoided.

  13. All joking aside, Pix, I feel that we're working towards something big. I think a lot of people believe that, mate.

You do, too, if you're being honest, yeah?

You are, but so are a lot of clubs. You've got a good team, a good manager and a new stadium. But without wanting to sound too cruel about your comment, there's no 'working towards something big' trophy. Your team need to win something, otherwise it's going to get broken up because footballers, however loyal you think they are, want to win things. As do managers.

Keeping this squad together is going to be a huge challenge for Poch and Levy, with the (1) the lure of big wages and trophies elsewhere (2) Paying for the stadium (3) Paying them the going rate for players in the CL

I think you've got a a much tougher time ahead than you think. Poch has improved you (but let's face it, you were utter **** before he came) and Spurs have been doing much better, but improving is one thing, becoming winners takes something altogether different. I get the impression that you think it will simply be a natural progression from being ****>improving>winning the league. But it doesn't work like that.

  15. What a load of bollocks!

Poch has made us consistent, but we were on an upward trajectory before he came into the club, beginning as far back as Martin Jol. Yes, there were blips, but the general movement was forwards. The fact that we got through so many managers over that period was proof of Levy's determination to find the right man to push us forward. Poch is that man.

I started my prescient "North London Power-Shift" thread long before the shift actually took place, and I littered it with frequent and numerous references to the "shift to come," because I sensed that we were very close to surpassing you.

That glorious day arrived two seasons ago, and I see us getting stronger and stronger, as you decline further still, over the next few years.

Why does he now call it "project 2", has he abandoned the first because it failed and he is going to try something different to win something?

Hey, you do realise you are talking about Levy's idea of success/failure here don't you?
According to the Spurs lads Levy always wins because he gets the money he want's, the player/manager doesn't matter.

If they sell a top player it's all good because he has suddenly turned **** and the buying club has been "Levyed" <laugh>

Oh dear, I attempt a serious debate with you and you wheel out a load of ****e.

Okay if you want to play it that way I will make it simple:
You are better than you were, but you were utter ****e. And despite your improvement you have still won (and look likely to win) **** all.

    <ok>

You do talk some bollocks Quentin ... Aubameyang and Lacazette as a front two with Ramsey, Ozil and Mikhytarian behind is hardly an indication of decline in most people's books ... I'm expecting a much stronger Arsenal next season as most people with any real footballing knowledge will too ... yes they need to improve defensively but the new manager will already know that...

Okay then, I'll indulge you. Let's break this **** down.

Before Jol you were utter ****ing gash. You had a string of failures at the helm, including many of your ex-players who became a laughing stock.
Since Jol you've had one manager who's won something, Juande Ramos, a single league cup and then you sacked him.
Since then, you've had 'Arry, AVB, Tim 'nice but dim' and Pooch. All of whom have failed to win anything.

You cite Pooch as being some kind of new Messiah because he's finished above what is the weakest Arsenal team in two decades under a flailing Wenger, who was well past his sell by date, and despite that Wenger still won won more than pooch in his last years at the club.

And this is the sole measure of your success. You finished above Arsenal in their weakest moment and you celebrate it like winning a trophy.
That smacks of small club mentality. <ok>
