Oh come on you bunch of moaners lets at least have some fun We are a team who has spent the last 15 years bouncing around between Championship and League One, during that time we've had to put up with a 3 day week Warnock, Kevin Blackwell, Big Fat Steve Evans, Hockaday and The Heck. Now we're in the final stages of negotiating with someone who has managed Argentina, Chile, big European clubs and influenced some of the biggest names in football. We know he's not coming here because he can't wait to work with Ekuban. He's been burnt twice recently and we know going into negotiations that there's no point making false promises or he'll walk. Now he'll be aware he's coming to the Championship so is not looking at a premiership title pushing budget but as I'm a Radz half full type I'm sure there is money to spend this summer and on quality and we'll attract more quality if we make a statement of intent by signing him. (I also think there is still more ability and potential in this squad than the arse end of last season showed) Is it a gamble - absolutely. But it could well be right manager at right club at right time for everyone. I for one welcome our new Argentian overlord!
Okay, look at it logically, at PL level a DOF can go out and buy a player for £20m and you’d imagine at that price range they should be pretty good. When you get to the £50m + bracket then it’s pretty fine margins but sign any player for this price range and you probably don’t need to turn to Wiki to uncover something positive. Secondly do top clubs with a DOF ignore the coaches request? If the coach says I want a new LB do you think he gets given one he knows nothing about or do you believe he has a meeting with the DOF and a few names get thrown around. Do you believe the DOF goes back to the coach for an opinion on someone he is about to sign for confirmation he’ll fit into the coaches plans? Do you believe a coach at the top level gets given a set piece coach and is told he has to play a certain marking system at defending set pieces by his set piece coach who was employed by and who reports directly to the DOF I’m not a hater of the DOF if done right, do it wrong and you just waste money on the likes of Sacko, Klich, Cibicki and others being frozen out the team. You create dressing room unrest, players who are told they are good enough by the DOF but the coach sees it differently. At Championship level and limited funds, you need a Warnock type manager who can spot a player who is affordable, maybe overlooked by others but he knows exactly where he will fit in. When Monk left we were three players short of a promotion contending team. The appointment of Orta has pushed us back, we are more than three players short, we have an abundance of players not good enough yet on 4 year contract. We sign TC and worry his inexperience at English Championship football will backfire despite being told stories of his clipboard interview and expert tactical knowledge we then paid £500k for PH yet not one Leeds fan was excited by his arrival. Orta is absolutely garbage in his decision making and nothing will change until he is shown the door.
Well mate I bow to your knowledge if the facts, but wait a minute you dont know any facts do you, you just make assumptions of what Ortas role is even when he and Radz have said countless times that all players or possible players are discussed and analysed by the coach and then a decision is made either way. The truth is none of us know the facts so we wait and see what the story is going to be next. We should bet to know the plan when we get to know the new manager whoever that is. The more experienced manager will have a list of players he wants, just like Biesla gave to Swansea when he agreed to take the job. Swansea didnt get the players so he didnt go to Swansea. If it is Biesla do you think Orta will be telling him who comes and goes? No me neither
Not at all as I really value your input. You have paid your dues and earn't your stripes over many years of supporting the team which is admirable and gives you first hand knowledge of the many travesties that have occurred by so many shameless owners and incompetents that have leeched off our club ever since the Wilkinson era. The posts you make about football are usually thought provoking as they differ from mine and it's always good to consider other possibilities. I noted yesterday that even you as possibly the most sceptical of posters could sense that there is something in the air and that maybe just maybe we are going to invest the necessary funds to have proper go at getting out of this division.
Yeah i sensed an air of throttled excitement in chippys tone to,put it down to the heat in southampton phew
You ask for facts when it suits you but the rest of the week you post (or repost) articles uncovered on NewsNow acting like it is gospel. I’m not even going there on Orta having the say on transfers and not the coach, anyone with half a brain cell can see that. I could post ten pages of evidence pointing strongly towards that if I cared to make the effort. Simplest proof is umpteen interviews with TC and signings made when we never had a coach and the Jap guy, I’m sure TC was ecstatic at his signing. PH with the prefers man marking but the set piece coach likes Zonal was a classic.
Comes over a little aggressive doesn’t it... I like Doc and it’s good we all have differing opinions, I hope he is right and I am wrong over the new coach, I don’t mean to come over like I am looking for a fight, all good here Doc and no offence intended
It’ll all depend on what tools the next manager, whoever he is, to work with. You could get the best carpenter in the world, give him only a blunt chisel to work with and he’ll only produce rubbish. Heck never had a chance. Piss poor bunch of players. Same regime still in place so unless the two clowns that messed up for the past twelve months do a serious u turn in the approach a new manager will start the season heavily handicapped. Monday won’t teveal much but the next three months sure will and let’s hope it’s all good
