No not blind mate probably gobsmacked that a guy reputed to be the godfather of coaching and in the top 5 in the world is being approached to join Leeds. For me thats big news but for it to work he would demand control and cash. So my view is that he will be forced to say no thanks. If however he does come it must mean hes been promised cash, or big loans from his mates and to expect fireworks at TA
Good find WJ. Angus was (apparently) in South America last week. Though I could not find a source to back that up.
But that's just it, I don't see that in him, I don't see his achievements as justifying either of those comments. As I said previously I appreciate that people within football are enamoured with him, but from what I've read about him in the last few hours, I'm obviously missing something, as this is not an appointment that is going to excite me. I am more than happy to be wrong and find out that I'll look back and wonder why I had any doubts, but for someone who is suppose to be one of the top managers in the world (1) I've never heard of him (ok not exactly scientific, but I'd like to think I'd have an idea about who is who, and not had to look him up, (2) I looked him up on worldclubranking.com because again I have no clue about him, and yes in 2012 he was the 5th highest ranked manager in the world, behind Guardiola, Mourinho, Heynkes and Mancini. However to put that in to some perspective, Harry Redknapp was rated 15th top manager in the world at the same time, Remi Garde was rated 23rd, Alan Pardew was the 39th best manager in the world according to the same site that rates Bielsa as the 5th. How excited would we be getting if we were appointing Garde, he was the 23rd best rated manager in the world at once (Garde is now ranked at 913, but at one stage there were only 22 managers in the world ranked higher than him) 12 months later, Bielsa had dropped to 63rd in the rankings, as at 2018 he is ranked at 531st in the world https://www.clubworldranking.com/coaches/marcelo-alberto-bielsa-caldera So if we do appoint him, we are not appointing the 5th best manager/coach in the world, there are 530 managers rated higher than him at present, and to put that into some sort of perspective Adrian Heath is ranked 525th, Tommy Wright of St Johnstone is 475th, Robert Molenaar is 485th, Steve McLaren is 252th, Terry Butcher is 357th and probably more poignantly Darko Milanic is rated 419th, so we have a guy who has previously managed us and was deemed a failure is currently rated over 100 positions higher than the guy we are apparently interested in, therefore is it any surprise that no matter how many times people say he's one of the top x managers in the world, that I still find myself indifferent to the appointment, as I wouldnt be getting excited at any of those guys mentioned above being appointed manager. I guess this is why I have my doubts, people are telling us what a great signing this guy would be, and if this signing was made 6/7 years ago I may well have been having kittens about the appointment myself, but by today's standards I guess I am apathetic to the potential appointment
Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP 9m9 minutes ago Message from the Leeds end is that the head coach’s appointment has a way to go yet but contacts in Spain believe the process with Bielsa is a good way down the line. They only make the point that Bielsa is difficult to second guess.
You'd like to think the ink is nearly dry on the new man's contract, whoever it might be, before we pulled the trigger on Heckybum. That's what all the experts and itk people were spouting.
He's been playing at Hull under English coaches / managers so don't see why this would make any difference. Just depends if we can stump up the wages he wants.

There's talk of our new Manager parashooting in during the England game at ER, and landing on the half way line. What could go wrong?
