In today's Prem market I think we go to 20 mill for him. He seems like a good lad too which is always a big factor for me and can be difficult to find the right characters.
This ...Rafas seen / worked with him for the last 6 months and obviously likes what he sees character wise , which he always emphasises as important ... 20 million seems a good shout
I’d agree with the £20m. Maybe a few mill more in add ins if we get into Europe etc...just to pas things out.
If we did manage to get this deal over the line then it will be a massive statement of intent from the board to Rafa. Might even secure the contract extension from him. We can they go get a couple more loanees to further improve the squad.
I'd agree - although wasn't that impressed with his performance in the last game - was anonymous against Chelsea...
I think Chelsea will do a deal here. They have for a while played by FFP and will need a substantial war chest to hand the new manager. With a new man in place they will want to go out and buy big.
Anything up to 20m, maybe 25m at a push. The problem is we don't know what our budget is. Rafa has to manage this cutely. If paying 25m for Kenedy means we skimp on a striker, is it the right call? If Rafa really does want 5 or 6 then lumping 25m on Kenedy may not be all that smart. However he might have free transfers or loans in mind for other areas. I can't see Chelsea dealing until this managerial situation is confirmed for them. A new manager could come in and want him.
Well remember what happened last year - Rafa was promised funds, he splashed £12M on Murphy assuming he had more. Now we are told he currently has £40M so why spend half of it on one player when we need a STRIKER.
That would be my issue. However I think Mike will end up allowing a budget of 70m. He did it for McClaren and Rafa is actually competent. Plus Rafa got that in the Championship. Yes the finances are bad but I think he will gamble as Charnley suggested things were back on an even keel.
True, but presumably he'll get money from sales as well? That has got to generate a further £30 - £40m depending on what we can lever for Mitro, Gayle etc
I think the media are suggesting we only have 40m. It will be based on our finances though and Charnley said things are better. I think we will find more than people expect. It really depends on Rafa and who he is going to offload
Think the £40m figure is probably related to the Sky money we're due in July, but like you say, hopefully will be enhanced with what we offload
Annoyingly Chelsea paid £6.3m for him. Haven't used him, haven't developed him and now want to sell him for £16M+ I appreciate it comes down to what they can get and reflects the market but it does take the piss. Another player they have just hoovered up and don't nothing with and they will turn a profit on him. Anyway, bid a bit more as we made an extra £10m due to Chelsea's rank performance on last day!
True but I think this time we're already above the line financially (which we clearly weren't after the Championship Season), so no reason for money to be utilised elsewhere
