I don't blame you. I've seen our team come so close to being genuine challengers with the addition of that extra signing only for some other team to come along and take your best players (e.g. Modric, Bale, Berbatov, Carrick, etc.) and set you back X number of years.

If the wums Gods are on form they will make it happen this summer, but don't think it will be. Real only keep managers for around 3 years, so I'd expect Pooch to go then tbh.

Then of course, if he continues in the same vein as he has been at spurs and doesn't win anything, maybe Real will look elsewhere in 3 years time. Now might be the only opportunity Pooch gets to manage his dream club.

We can stop talking about a clause in his contract

Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham manager's contract does not contain Real Madrid clause

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino's new contract does not contain a clause allowing him to leave for Real Madrid.
The 46-year-old Argentine, who signed a five-year extension with the Premier League side last week, is the early favourite to replace Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane stepped down on Thursday after leading Real to a third consecutive Champions League title.

Pochettino is not believed to have agreed anything in writing or verbally with Spurs about joining Real.
He took over at Spurs in May 2014, and led to them fifth, third second and third in his four seasons in charge.

  5. Poch would have to down tools and break his contract to go and work for Real. Going by how he has conducted himself up to now, for the entirety of his career, I simply cannot see him behaving like that.

His opportunity to have left for Real, or to put himself in the shop window for that job, was before he signed up to Spurs for another 5 years.

As I wrote in an earlier post, neither Poch nor Levy would have been blind to the very likely prospect of the Real job coming up for grabs. I don't know, but I strongly suspect that Poch obtained all the assurances he needed from Levy before putting his signature on the dotted line.

In my considered opinion, Levy will turn down any approach from Real to buy out Poch's contract, and Poch will not put any pressure on Levy to accept any approach.

The good thing for us Spurs fans is that the pressure is on Levy to give Poch what he needs to take us to the next stage in our tremendous development and re-emergence as a club.

  6. Why?

I wasn't rag dolled over the unfortunately "Bale" affair.

I reckon the chance to manage his compatriot, Sissoko, would be too hard to turn down. Plus, after the pasting we gave Madrid this season, it’s a no brainer he’d wanna take that next step up.

  8. I think we would certainly have impressed Zidane.

He'd naturally be curious as to how we can create players like Bale.

4 years into the Fat Argy’s Contract and not the merest sniff of silverware. Ramos has publicly stated he would be adverse to managing in the Premiership again. Could be an upgrade on the South American failure.

On the contrary, we showed them how to raise their game for their following matches. Madrid owe us a pint and a packet of pork scratchings for that footballing lesson.

You can probably rightly claim Kane as "one of your own" Glenda, despite his Gooner roots, but claiming our Gareth, who was with us from a nine year old is bending the truth a bit even by your impressive standards!...<laugh>

In fact, you probably saw his early appearances for us when you had your season ticket at SMS...:emoticon-0105-wink:

  20. Just because you want that to happen, Bambs, doesn't mean it is going to happen.

That's not how it works, fella.

    So innocent and so naïve!
