hmmm , so all other nationals feel pride when playing for their country, yet english / british ones don't ?
If you're right , then perhaps it's the ruling class based version of queen and country they don't like !
Passion and commitment will only get you so far , technique and hence skills will alaways get you further !

You're not telling me Wales got to semi finals of last tournament on technique and skill are you? They were bonded as country men giving everything for the shirt they were wearing. There hasn't been that sort of unity in an England side for a long time.

Also no need to try and put a political spin on it or bring the queen into it.

Hmmm me thinks there speaks a Republican clutching at straws Rudey. The Welsh, Scots and Irish have no problem with national pride, it’s only an English problem where any display of nationalistic pride gets the little Englander tag. Remember Emily Thornbury criticism of white van man which led to her resignation. She now stands shoulder to shoulder with Jezz as a woman of the people. She’ll probably get her own slot at Jezza’s concert. Have you got your ticket yet? I hear they’re not exactly flying out the door.

political spin , have you read the previous posts ?<doh>

knockout football means just that , wales played well against belgium , with their best players on form and as you say a team that has grown up together , bale would rather play with his mates than his club ....
My point about the supposed lack of passion was highlighting the contradiction in the previous posts , you can't have it both ways , either players buy into it or they don't !
For what it's worth , there is a sense of superiority among some english supporters , that somehow they are better than other nationalities , this is pushed by media , and over the years has become a joke , that stupid band playing great escape , god save the monarch etc just reinforces jingoistic ideology , as well as sounding crap .
Football has moved on from 1966 , balls crossing lines now can be confirmed by technology!
Personally , u.k. football is lower grade , although southgate is at least giving youth a chance , good luck to him !

I've only gone back 2 pages but I'm not sure where it was political before you brought it up.

I would add either of our top two goalkeepers in the squad. Never been a fab of foreign goalkeepers who seem incapable of holding on to the ball.

The problem is too much money in the game and they just care about their clubs more as they pick up the mega bucks and this international malarky is just too difficult for them. We have Sky to thank for all this!

Note - we are the only country in the world cup where none of our players play outside our country. I repeat NONE! Says quite a lot to me that....
