TBH they are at a cross roads IMO. They have been HUGELY successful. I would actually say more successful than city.

    last 5 years

    Chelsea

    UEFA Europa League Winner 2012-13
    Football League Cup Winner 2014-15
    Premier League Champion 2014-15
    Premier League Champion 2016-17
    FA Cup Winner 2017-18

    City:

    Football League Cup Winner 2013-14
    Premier League Champion 2013-14
    Football League Cup Winner 2015-16
    Football League Cup Winner 2017-18
    Premier League Champion 2017-18

City only have 2 leagues and 3 league cups to show for 5 years of mad spending

Cheslea have won 2 leagues and the europa, and league cup and FA cup.

IMO Chelsea are the more successful club.

    Now:

net spend for cheslea has been quite healthy

2017/18 107mil (but a lot of that has been poor spend like drinkwater)
    2016/17 51mil
    2015/16 9mil
    2014/15 5mil
    2013/14 49mil

They still have a big squad or top talents.

    So what happens now?

Are they Like LFc in 2008? will we seem ore barkleys and drinkwaters go in as players like hazard, courtois and willian leave?

dunno where we stand but since we won the lottery i think we might be the most successful club in England (i haven't been counting, United might have won more).

I can see Calamity Courtois going, Willian is possibly offskis. Not sure what Hazard is up to.

It's quite hard to tell whats going to happen. We absolutely smashed the league 2 seasons ago but looked like a disaster the season just gone by. All the team chemistry and team work we had went right out the window and the spine has looked very weak (christensen, kante/bakayoko/fabregas for the most of it/Morata).

Something needs to change tactics wise as the 3-4-3/3-5-1-1 style conte employed last year doesn't work with this existing personnel (that and people have cottoned on)

What do you consider a surprise... Breaking in to the top 6? Or just best of the rest.

Really Everton should have the resources, fan base, and historical pull to be one of the best of the rest anyway. Historically you'd consider them a bigger deal than Spurs.

Everton finishing 7th or 8th shouldn't be a surprise but rather, about where one would expect them to be.

4th or 5th? That would be a surprise but I don't see it myself, not in the next couple of years.

I know our fans aren't all saints but the reason I can't stand Chelsea is because of their fans refusal to observe a respectful moment of silence #****s

You could apply that sentence to liverpool and automatic top 4 but everyone thinks Klopps done a sterling job (he has).

I look at the Everton squad and i don't think it's any great shakes. I would say their squad/team is closer to the side below them than anywhere near the sides above them.

Anyway i reckon Silva could get top 6, but it'll be hard. Arsenal have a new impetus, City, United, Yourselves and Spurs are all looking strong and have consistency in their clubs (unless poch or klopp leave). Could take our place depending on what happens to us <laugh>.

I just quite fancy silva (although he was absolutely shocking in the latter half of his stay). You can see that theres a philosophy behind his football and they he trains them in a particular way.

Wouldn't have minded him at Chelsea in all honesty

Everton were once on a level with Spurs - best of the rest if you like. Now look how far Spurs have come and how Everton have dropped back. They've gone backwards with Moshiri, plus they've hired mercenaries. Silva is of that ilk from what I've read - can't personally remember him at Hull or Watford but he walked away from one and talking to another club 10 games into your tenure at the other smacks of lack of integrity and professionalism. Other than his first post, he's lasted just one season at each club, not what I'd be looking to hire. Let's hope for the blues sake he gives them something to smile about.

    Everton have what?

    pickfird.. ok.
Coleman.. should be in his prime. we will see
    cbs are a mess.
lb... well less said the batter tbh. They will miss Baines.
midfield? functional if you put a 3 together. sneiderlin attitude sucks. gueye and siggurdsson and a couple are ok.
    wingers/wide forwards... Walcott...
striker. tosun wasnt too bad actually in patches.

i think lookman might be the guy they need to step up.

I think Everton are decent but only decent and just lack that bit of quality.

    City fans are different.

They was getting 20k attendances in div 1 when chelsea and Bournemouth were in same league who got around 4k fans.

Baines has been on the way down for a couple of seasons.
Don't think Lookman wants to return & would rather stay in Bundeslegia though that may be different now Allardyche has gone.
Personally think Everton have a squad of decent players but that squad is seriously unbalanced .

I agree they are different. I thought Klopp's Manschaft was more upset about the buying success factor, which is exactly what city have done.

I thought he seemed more upset with the arrogance of Chelsea fans. A nothing club who got lucky.

City have always had a loyal huge following before the money.

I think if Silva doesn't perform as they hope he will, he will be gone by next season or before depending on just how badly he does perform. On the other hand if he does very well, he will be gone next season as another 'bigger' club turns his head. I'd be worried if I was a blue - it looks like lose/lose.
