I think it's more a case of racists and bigots jumping on the bandwagon....there would be outrage if a white player had a gun tattoo, but the creeps hanging around on the internet just jump in. I have seen articles with absolutely nothing to do with race at all that still attract racist comments about half way down. There have always been these people, but we rarely came across them in our normal lives...now they leap into our houses via twitter. Twitter gives idiots an anonymous voice.
Sure, but the increased knowledge of their existence, and exposure of their particular brand of likes/dislikes, would be what drives a portion of the press to produce what is fairly evidently a targeted campaign against an individual. Because that sells papers to their base.
I have never thought of Raheem being an Islamic name. I learn something new everyday. Anyhow good luck to the player, hope he scores a few goals in Russia so perhaps the same Sun can sing his praises instead.
The house that I currently rent a room in in Southampton is being sold, so Im on the hunt for somewhere new to live. I went to look at a place in Marchwood earlier today and it turns out that one of the guys that lives there is a scout and analyst for Saints. Now I'm not totally sold on living there...but...Maybe I should take a hit for the team to get some insider info on all the players we're not buying.
I don't like Sterling, and his choice of tat is weird, especially as to his reason why he hates guns! Did I get his point, or have I taken a wrong turn somewhere? But, regardless, its his choice, he can do what he wants. But the media should hang their heads in shame the way they go after the England players in the build up to a tournament. They do this time & time again. It really annoys me. No other country does it......yet our press are the first to moan when we return empty handed after being dumped out unceremoniously. They can keep the fish wrap, stick in straight into recycling where it belongs.
Direct line between that and this. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ly-assaulting-manchester-city-raheem-sterling
The weird thing is that while everyone i've heard has been saying that the woman who started the 'outrage' at this has ****ed up. In reality she has spectacularly succeeded in spreading her anti gun message in that she actually got not just her own, but Sterling's anti gun story at the center of national, and even worldwide media's attention. All the anti PC people bringing this up are just helping spread a PC message, which is another weird outcome that i don't think they realise. Edit: This is basically Trumps strategy and why he always says outrageous things.
I had a lovely day off today. Late breakfast, followed by a trip to a couple of garden centres to buy plants and veg. It was mild and cloudy with the last forecast telling me some sun. I thought it would be the same pattern as yesterday. I got a bit wet. Hope all the little seedlings don’t get washed away as it’s torrential at the moment
50 sharks wash up on beach near Swansea. Very sad. @Saint Helen - have you been fishing? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-44291444
5:30pm here in Atlanta and my watch just gave me this alert please log in to view this image Lol. Like it till Saturday. Hopefully sorting tickets to Atlanta Utd for Saturday [emoji16]
Am I missing something....one of the sharks had some fishing gear attached, but I'm assuming it was the result of a natural occurrence. The sort of thing that happens to dolphins and whales. Are they saying that someone caught all of them and then cut the bodies loose?
I read it as a natural thing and the author dropped the fishing tackle but in at the end. I didn’t read it as 50 sharks killed by fishing tackle.
I first went to Rhosilli beach as a kid in about 1973. Back then you could pitch a tent anywhere in the sand dunes for free. Now you have to pay a fortune to camp in the official campsites but still, probably the best beach in the uk! I remember my little brother turning blue after a dip in those tropical waters. They found a very odd creature there last week http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-44237827
It’s a short step from the Worm’s Head, so it’s obviously a baby dragon. I agree, great beach, as long as you don’t step on the dragon eggs. I can thoroughly recommend the King Arthur at Reynoldston, and the Britannia Inn at Llanmadoc, which is up above Whiteford beach, also worth a visit.
