I think he could be a Plan B. The quality of his corners might just break down the Bus Parkers and probably end up with HK hitting 40 prem goals in a season.
Could work I agree, but I'm with Roo on this and worry about his attitude. Appreciate it must have been difficult for him to have a positive can-do attitude when suffering the indignity of playing with the likes of Adam at Stoke, but he never looks motivated enough for me. Maybe at £13m worth the risk, but not if it upsets the dressing room.
It’s hard to judge him really, for the reasons you mention about stoke. But regardless, his actual style is quite similar to Ozil IMO, in the sense he wants everyone else to work for him before he pulls of the moment of brilliance. For some time now, our system has been made up of 11 hard grafters, all singing from the same hymn sheet and I just don’t see him fitting in with that.
Shaquiri for £13m (if true) is an absolute bargain in todays market. Very good player. If i was Everton /Leicester i would be all over him. However, we dont need him, we need a forward like Martial / Zaha with pace and versatality
He strikes me as a player who'd lose heart and focus if he spent a long time on the bench. Plus, I've seen him looking less than athletic on occasions - the Swiss Andy Reid? Not a great set of characteristics for a Plan B player. Not for me.
Good player but in attacking midfield we’re stacked with talent, the only players worth buying there are elite level guys like Bale or Mahrez. Other than people like that, we don’t really need to spend on that position. I’m not even fully sold on the Zaha/ Martial ideas, rate both players highly and I think Martial can become ****ing superb but I’d rather we get someone already at that elite level if we’re to add in those spots.
He's a Gooner...but I do own a couple of his albums. I didn't know his dad was in The Warm Jets until I looked up his Wikipage. I saw them a couple of times, a million yars ago. Sorry, I've replied to the wrong comment - i should have sent my response to ALKM. Sorry again.
He always looks unfit, can’t see him fitting in at Spurs at all. Do we really want to be raiding recently relegated teams?
I get what you mean. He probably isn’t, but this is where I just think it’s his style more than anything. Don’t be surprised to see our business being predominantly made up of these types of signing! “Squad bulkers” rather than “squad improvers” wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest!
Agree about chubby chops...the only reason to buy him would be to make Rose look less porky. Keane, Lennon, Defoe, Carrick, Robinson and Bale did ok though
I said it earlier and I'll say it again, he's one of the best corner takers in the world. And that is an area in which we most need improvement.
deedub...I like your posts mate but seriously? We buy Sumo man purely to take corners...£13m to play with 10 men and a weeble apart from 6 -10 corners per game...my friend you are actually tactically worse than me ... and I tried putting Sanchez in the team twice last season
The way we play has changed so much now, too. Even the VDV we signed back then would massively struggle. As good as he is, even Alli gets stick from some fans for being “lazy”, which shows how far we’ve come and how the style and setup has changed.
One thing I’m confused by now though, is just how many fans I’m still seeing on social media that are still saying “we need a pacey attacker/winger”. Interestingly it’s weird seeing us linked to the likes of Pulisic. Don’t get me wrong, I was one of those people who banged on about it until we signed Lucas. But seriously, it’s like some fans have got a bit OCD and want to start collecting them. We already have 5 “first XI players competing for 3 spots, so unless Lamela goes (realistically it won’t be any of he others) there’s not really any need for another IMO. Obviously I’m not going to say no to anyone that’s got a bit of pace and would be an exciting player to watch, but I think we need to find someone whose attributes are more of a hybrid of Son and Kane, and threatens teams from predominantly a central area, rather than out wide.
I used to like corners, but now? I fear them. The best way to beat us is to keep giving us corners because we will never score from them and then eventually catch us on the break. Something has to change, and if that means playing with 10 men and a weeble, so be it.
