For sure all transfer rumours and conjecture are just that until any official club statement. Media runs rampant with any possible niblet now more than ever.
I had thought Fekir was more of an attacking midfielder or winger. Who knows how Klopp intends to use him though. He may be more up front or more midfield.
So my view on our current squad is as below. From first team, I see Mig & Ings being 2 players that probably leave. Along with squad options like Origi, Studge, Markovic on assumption someone wants them. Think that leaves a first choice GK as a real priority. CB, we have numbers, does Klopp trust lovren? Obviously he could be improved on, but with Matip & Gomex being there, we have numbers. Moreno, if he leaves will need replacing. The front 3 of that reserve is obviously a major weak point so needs improving. Solanke looked good at times when playing, especially in that 4231 with the regular front 3 behind him. Key objectives. GK, versatile forward that can play across the front 3, and if being greedy, either a new CB or another attacking midfielder (like Fekir) to either play in that front line or drop into midfield. Get that done, keep everyone else and it'll really bulk out the squad, offer some real depth and competition for places. GK TAA Lovren VVD Robbo Keita Fabinho Hendo Salah Firm Mane Karius Clyne Gomez Matip Moreno Gini Milner Lallana Ox Solanke Woodburn
I've no doubt we will sign a keeper but only because Migs will leave. Whether we sign a backup for Karius or a first teamer and relegate the German, I don't know. I don't think Klopp will sign a CB. I think he's happy with Lovren and Matip battling it out to partner VVD. We've actually got one of the best defensive records since signing VVD (and putting Karius & Robbo into the side at a similar time). With TAA, Clyne and Gomez, we don't need a RB. Robbo is quality but Moreno is our worst player imo. I think Klopp will want to make a change here but may sick it out for now rather than risk introducing too many new faces. Plus Milner can play there. CM is already looking like the priority area and two players already coming in, we suddenly have some depth here; Keita, Fabinho, Oxlade, Hendo, Milner, Lallana and Wijnaldum. Strong rumours for Fekir too. Something must give here. Unless he finds some brain cells, Can will obviously **** off. I think Milner is our of contract too, I'd prefer him to stay but think others are ahead of him. Could we see Lallana or Hendo leave? Front three are superb. There aren't many players in world football I'd realistically swap them for TBH. However, there is nothing beyond them. Ings, Solanke and Lallana are currently good enough for these roles. Keep Solanke, let the other two go.
I think Lallana is more of a MF rather than forward though because doesn’t have the pace. Just threw in on CL because of lack of options. Think a wide forward will be priority because we are so lacking there, only Ox offers some sort of pace to compensate. Milner has another year as far as I’m aware? Been no talk of him being out of contract? i think we’re strong in terms of numbers in cm, but not in variety although 2 newbies is obviously helpful. Hendo, Gini, Milner are all one of the same. Keita from what I gather drives from deep. Faninho more defensive but again can drive from deep. Ox drives with the ball. Other than Lallana don’t have anyone that links up play, so I can see Fekir being that one I guess. Currently have 7 midfiekders which is too much though, 8 I’d bring in Fekir but Im not sure who’s you’d look to move on from Hendo, Gini, Lallana l, Milner because Klopp likes the later 2
The 2 obvious ones to leave imo are Lala & Ings as i think other clubs will be interested. Migs not sure quite how he views his position plus will he be viewed as damaged goods by potential buyers ?. Bunch of others are available but will there be any interest is the problem.
Migs moaned a lot after initially getting dropped before completely (after being told too imo) shutting up. He's as much a goner as Studge and Markovic
For me right now the first 11 is really only taking shape. We are slowly getting close but we need those go to options. It was meant to be a choice between Benezma and bale for real last weekend but one score (flukey) and then the one who comes on scores. LFC simply do not have the go to guy on the bench. its plan a or nothing.
TBH I was surprised we didn't even try it v real. I just thought (and have seen it a few times now) that klopp doesn't really try to change things much. I don't know what to think of last 10 v real TBH. We just didn't try change it. Like we'd given up.
