About time to pick something totally non-football to slag off the England team so The Sun has a pop at Sterling. Who next? My money is they find out Kyle Walker’s nan skipped her bus fare in 1957.
Whilst, as usual, the timing just before a major tournament is questionable, it does again raise the question of "role models" IMO. What is or isn't acceptable if you are in the public eye?
He’s not hurt anyone. Say what you want about him as a player but he’s apparently an exceptionally nice and courteous kid. Just let the guy play and let him fail first before kicking him.
I haven't read the article, so my comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. As you have correctly pointed out, it's the same before every tournament. My comment was more generalised, about what is and isn't acceptable, when it comes to role models and others in the public eye. The BBC has picked up on it and I have seen the gun tattoo. Not the worst thing I've ever seen and with full length socks won't be visible for the most part.
It’s an interesting one when you get the chance. The bandwagon is already in full motion with calls for him to be dropped by Southgate from some charity who want a bit of free publicity.
Yup. A small part of the reason the players don't perform is because they're being hounded by our gutter press.
Anybody who considers Raheem Sterling a role model only has themselves to blame. The kid makes no secret of the fact that he's a ****ing ******.
The irony is, if that **** rag hadn't reported it, we'd have been nine the wiser. His sock usually covers that part off his leg! Still, least it's sterling
The English team doesn’t need destroying by the press as it manages quite nicely to do the job itself. Will be surprised if we get out of any group we are in but if by a miracle that happens the next game will be a teary farewell.
FFS, all the fuss about his tattoo!! People saying its "Totally unacceptable". if I was Sterling I would just say " I haven't offered you anything to accept, so the fact that you find it unacceptable is neither here nor there, and peoples opinions of my tattoo, other than from my friends and family, are completely irrelevant to me" FFS its just a picture of a gun for crying out loud, and its his body he can tattoo what he likes on it.
Good luck with them digging any dirt up on Sheephead, I bet he's never even taken his library books back late!
He's a football player, and should be judged on the quality of his football. Unless he commits a crime, in which case he will be judged in a court of law. Those morally corrupt scumbags in the UK gutter press have no business judging the guy on anything at all tbh.
I remember thinking this was pretty ****ing cool at the time... (Paul Simonon of The Clash for those of you who know absolutely **** all about music) please log in to view this image
Anti-gun campaigners criticised the Manchester City forward after he shared a photo of himself with the tattoo of an M16 assault rifle on his leg. The image has been called "totally unacceptable" and "sickening". Lucy Cope, who founded group Mothers Against Guns after her son was shot dead in 2012, said Sterling should not play for England unless he gets rid of the tattoo. Speaking to the Sun newspaper, she said: "This tattoo is disgusting. Raheem should hang his head in shame. It's totally unacceptable. "We demand he has the tattoo lasered off or covered up with a different tattoo. "If he refuses he should be dropped from the England team. He's supposed to be a role model but chooses to glamorise guns." please log in to view this image As much as I can't stand the little ****er he's not done anything wrong here.
