According to the SLP we are closing in on signing Leon Cort on loan (ex Palarse) Anyone know if hes any good
Have just checked Wiki and he's been around a bit (Hull, Stoke, Burnley) over the last few years - Wouldnt be a bad player to have on the bench over Doc I suppose
Very impressive for league one! Has a few years prem experience and plenty in the championship. Strong and quick, but has lapses in concentration. Only concern is- would cort be happy to join as cover? Think he plays full back too...
Well, definitely a very useful player to have but the one big question is - "What does he get out of this?" Even though he's (apparently) out of favour at Burnley, he'd be dropping a division; we'd be paying him about half of what they're forking out; unless there's an injury/suspension crisis, he's just not going to get a game. Unless he's got an overwhelming desire to come back dahn sarf, IMO he may as well stay on loan at Preston and see what move Burnley can come up with next.
just heard we are about sign leon cort season long loan is he any good at 31?dont know much about him was he at newcastle and wimbledon one stage havent checked his previous clubs hope someone can do his goal stats on here each club he played for cheers
Why would he take a pay cut for a loan deal? If Burnley want to get rid and we won't pay the full wages, then they'll just have to pay the balance. If he's contracted to get a particular wage, that's what he'll get. So... what he gets is a move south and a chance to put himself back in the market According to Wikipedia, his loan spell at PNE ended last January or something like that. It's Clarke Carlisle who's on loan from Burnley to PNE
Hopefully the Doc is moving on, the only reason I like him being in the team is that it makes me chuckle seeing him hobble around on the pitch like an arthritic old troll. Not entirely over the moon about the signing of Cort, I'd far rather have seen a younger, left-footed CB sign permanently (perhaps someone who hasn't represented both of our South London rivals), but I guess I'll reserve judgement until I've seen him in the red shirt.
I dunno last time we loaned a player who had represtended all three South London clubs it didnt turn out that badly - aka. Darren Ward (Always felt we missed out big time when we didnt get him on a perm deal)
