Just look what Real did with their snide. Not only take out the opposition's main threat, get away with but give yourselves a confidence boost by doing so regardless of how the opposition respond.
difficult to come back in I feel. I like the guy but there has to be some element of why is he back why should I listen there
I don't agree with it it's not about snide cheating it's about belief and executing the game plan in face if anything. imo certain players gave up when salah went off. certain leaders should have been driving their team mates on I the period he was down.. they all went into their shells until we express ourselves when things are tough we won't win anything.
I gave up when Salah went off. I've never felt the 'oh, it's over now' feeling before in all my days watching us like I did on Saturday. The boost to Real was immediate and tangible. Salah is our talisman although I have to say Mané is fast returning to his former self as a sort of co-talisman. He was magnificent and showed we can score without Salah. Howlers did for us. I think had it remained 1-1 for a while longer, a drip, drip return to confidence, Mané could have scored again.
imo sadly we were going to run out of steam cos we just hadn't the fitness. I had hoped maybe real would crack first but you could see Milner was shattered and lallana was gone. I thought the back 4 itself did ok but went too deep. if we had held 1-1 for a little while.longer I didn't really see another goal.coming as their brief rally faded very quickly and was imo gone before their second goal. I felt we were trying our hardest but not executing a plan. mane was in short heroic as was Robertson. nobody left anything out on that pitch in effort.
I had an impression that we stopped pressing after Mo went off and didn't start again until after the third goal. It was just a vague impression and my short term memory ain't what it used to be, so I watched a coupla highlights reels, which didn't show the build-ups from the back. However, both extended highlights I watched showed the same thing: it's nearly all us up to Mo going off, with Real only having three attacks: the one Karius punched out, Marcelo's scuff wide and Ronaldo's near post miss. They were making mistakes all over the place. As soon as Mo goes off, it all reverses. It stays that way until the third goal, which was when the highlights end but it seemed like Real sat back then and our pressing just looked desperate, without any highlights.
yea that's true. when salah came off lallana went left and mane right but mane played much deeper than salah. lallana hardly pressed at all and midfield didn't join so the press vanished. we don't seem to have capacity to make changes mid game so imo we needed to be forcing that press. we got in at ht 0-0. We came out and made errors and looked nervy. that really dissappointed me. it was like ht meant nothing and it needed to get us back to basics. mane goal was a gift from the gods and then we picked up but for 5 mins no more. I felt we retreated again once real held the ball and mane was always too deep trying to defend and attack. I felt had we gone 41212 we might have done.more. for me sadly lallana was a bad sub but i would have made it too. at 1-2 down we had to go long at solanke but we just left it and the loss was inevitable. imo 1-2 was game over and we were never equalizing so last error.by karius was a so what really. we needed to roll the dice but we put can on and imo was was game.over
Agree with every bit of this. It felt weird to have that "it's over now" feeling so early in a game where we were the better side up until that point.
I think he has been good all year, he's just been overshadowed by Salah. He has shown several times when Salah Is off that he can still fill that role. Mane is better than he gets credit for. He sits back slightly this season with Salah making more runs. If we were to lose Salah I'm pretty sure Mane would be as influential as he was last year taking on that role. / I also think Salah is an excellent player but that he wouldn't necessarily play as well for Madrid, or Chelsea or any one else. He is suited to Liverpool's style of play and would lose a few goals scored in another team.
