So much butthurt.

 

What happens if it gets dark because it's overcast, there's clouds everywhere, thunder etc... so you break your fast. Then all of a sudden the thunder clouds pass and the sun comes out?

Btw as I'm catching up on this whole thread, regarding an earlier point on Norway iirc, from what I understand, in places where it's excessive daylight hours, they'e decided a simple 12 hour split.

 

The rules are specific enough, mate.

It's not about "darkness" as much as sunrise and sunset.

With regard to excessive hours, so the whole 6 months darkness and light type of places, theres a school of thought that it's not allowed for muslims to live there . It's the corrects stance imo.

The thing with these questions, and I honestly don't mean to be facetious etc here, is they are answered but many people (Muslims) don't know the answers as they don't look. It also explains why many live in certain areas as communities (not based on colour or race etc but just religion). They know and believe that muslim cannot live in isolation from other Muslms. But at the same time can't be isolated from non Muslims

 

Why?

On your second point, I have to say I don't believe there's any doctrine in islam that promotes that. You don't have to build a community of muslims to be classed as not living in isolation from other muslims. Why not have a mixture of all?

 

In a nutshell the whole 5 pillars of Islam are null if the sun doesn't come up or go down. So the prayers are based on the sun. Others such as the months and celebrations are based on the moon cycle

Second point wasn't about necessarily building a community of Muslims. It was about not isolating yourself from Muslims. Again certain things like say the Friday prayers are to be done in communities/groups so you need Muslims close by

But again it's also stated that you don't isolate yourself from non Muslims either, so a mix is best
