Hilarious to see the Scousers come unstuck last night. Never mind Karius, it must have been Thatchers / the Polices / the Suns fault
I remember when the mickys were getting off the ferries from Dover after Heysel, they started blaming the London support saying that there were loads of fans from other clubs that went over there for a punch up. As the mancs always remind the scousers "Always the victims and never your fault". At least justice was done and Real Madrid won the Champions League having won their domestic title last season. The scousers have not won the title since 1990!
The BBC phone in on 606 was hilarious at full time last night. More conspiracy theories than your average episode of the X files.
Is it the party line on this forum to hate all things Liverpool? I hate to be the odd one out if I'm the only one who generally speaking rather likes Liverpudlians. Wouldn't want to spoil anybody's fun.
I wonder when that will happen again? To think we used to beat teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal Man City and Spurs.
Rotherham V Shrewsbury now on Sky Sports - League One Play-off Final Rotherham have just had a penalty but the Shrews keeper saved it! Beckles was the player who conceded the penalty...the same man who had Bauer by the throat in the 18 yard box during the semi-final second leg - seen by the referee but inexplicably deemed not to be a penalty.
Full time: Rotherham 1-1 Shrewsbury Credit to Shrews, they battled hard in the 2nd half and carved out an equaliser. Rotherham still shaded it for me and had several late chances. But it's into Extra time now...
Full time after extra time at Wembley ... Rotherham 2-1 Shrewsbury Well played Rotherham. All three relegated Championship Clubs from last season have now returned to the 2nd tier at the first attempt.
Only 26,000 at Wembley though - an embarrassing attendance for both Rotherham & Shrewsbury. Neither club deserves Championship football.
Because they have small fan bases? Seems a bit unfair to say a Club does not deserve to progress to a higher division because they are 'too small' in so many words. It's the quality of the football played by the team and the skills of the manager that count is it not? As long as their ground meets safety requirements, any team should be able to win as many promotions as they can. Charlton have spent most of this season playing in front of fewer than 10,000 fans. In the Championship I believe that would be considered a fairly low number. And even if we had got to Wembley and took 25,000+ on the day, the majority of them would be coming along for the occasion only.
Not really, we took 40,000 plus to the Play Off final in 1998. Our supporter base is Championship standard, unlike those of the two duffer clubs today.
The gate was 78K and I would argue Sunderland had a few more. 8 of us went and only 2 supported Charlton, I am sure that others could say similar stories. Games at The Valley were struggling to sell out in our Premier League days, we are poorly supported as well. Burnley, Bournemouth, Watford and Huddersfield. I suppose this lot do not deserve to be in the top division?
