So we've established that teams are reliant on their best players? .... one small step for sports psychology, one giant leap for mankind
He won't come back to Spurs, as his wages are far too high. He'd fit straight into Pochettino's system if he did, though. Stick him in the three behind Kane, probably with Alli and Eriksen.
We did ... and jizzed ourselves with an open top bus parade ... thankfully someone lent us a trophy so that we didn't completely look like a bunch of sad desperate twats
No, you’ve decided that all sides have the same over reliance on one player, when they don’t. Happy to help
More or less that. If you look at the data : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/top-scorers very few have a good distribution of goal scoring threat. Citeh had 5 players who scored 9 or more PL goals this season. Spurs had 4 players. The Poool 3. The rest had 2 or less.
The obvious example would be Real Madrid, who tried to play a clearly unfit Ronaldo last night, but won anyway. They had other players to step up and take up the slack.
Ronaldo had to play, imagine if they'd lost. Zidane's career would be deader than a Karius. Just surprised that Bale didn't start, and seems like he's off. One player who hasn't been mentioned much in the media from last night is Modric. He was class. RM definitely not reliant on one man, that's for sure.
He always is, and the reason he gets little acclaim is because there is nothing extravagant about his play (I call him "the assist before the assist" ) . I would have him back at Spurs before Bale.
I can't see it, genuinely. Your manager wants 10 outfield players who are willing to compete, run, and tackle for 90 minutes. First thing he did when he arrived with you lot was weed out the Big Time Charlies. Not that a player of Bale's ability would ever be a passenger, but I don't see him fitting into your manager's system at all. 7 years ago, yes. But not now.
I don't see how your definition of Pochettino's required traits eliminates Bale. He ticks all of those boxes, plus several others. How is he different from someone like Son, for example?
Apart from being in every way a class above Son? I doubt his body is up to what would be expected of him in a Pochettino team.
Yep. Several of those "Charlies" who collectively did not deliver during their time at Spurs what Bale did.
So you don't think that he's fit enough, rather than lacking in any particular traits? Could be. He's always had a few injury problems, but claims that he's been fit for most of the last campaign. Had an early injury and then couldn't get back into the team.
If he's not got what may be needed in a Pochettino team I'm not sure he suits Jose's requirements does he? That said I suspect united would buy him anyway if they could.
I thought Bale picked the wrong time to do what he did. You've just won the Champions League and the interview was all about himself, he didn't mention the club or his teammates. He could have waited until today to announce that he's off and just enjoyed the moment.
