We can over-analyse things sometimes. The fact is we lost the game because of an injury to a key player and two calamitous errors. Everything else is moot.in the end mental fragility is still an issue.
karius didn't set out to do what he did but he still did it. what can you do.
we had ox out. can wasn't fit. lallana imo was nowhere near the level to come.on after 30 odd mins. coutinho left in Jan.
now we did miss coutinho there last night and a few times during last week's. we had a great run.but we in the end did look tired in the last.month and the front 3 had no cover.
that's just the way it was but we got to the final on a great run and fot 4th so now it's all a out the future and what to do next.
Gutted. No doubt we have missed a great opportunity to win the biggest club trophy available. Worse we didn’t give ourselves a proper chance.for me it's all about attitude and fortitude.
I was frankly amazed we got in at half time at 0-0
when salah went off we fell apart. there's not denying that. we did. we couldn't string a pass together.
in the second half we came out nervy again and taa almost gave one away but we rode that and were again just scraping by.
when karius ****ed it I thought we showed fortitude and got a bit of luck from a corner. just briefly we played the game we should have been playing all along. it lasted 5 mins and we sat off again.
in short we didn't give ourselves a chance to play.
credit to bale for a one in a million. he went for it.
if you look at it.
a) we had a shot in first half off taa. navas knew faff all about it but it stuck to him like glue. that's luck.
b) another day isco scores that open goal
it's just about what goes for who and sadly karius absolutely threw two goals in. two absolute gifts to a side of quality so we lost.
we have this fragility about us where ever it is. back line sat too deep. midfield did. we have seen it lots on occasions this season like Roma twice like city at Anfield that ended 4-3. we stop playing, retreat and lose.
this is the one thing that must end not buy this or that imo. it's mentality to win.
if we had 11 worldies and that attitude we would likely still lose.
Agree with most of that, carl.Gutted. No doubt we have missed a great opportunity to win the biggest club trophy available. Worse we didn’t give ourselves a proper chance.
When the dust settles, we will find that:
1. Karius was and is not good enough. That was why Mignolet was brought back but then to bring him back as our no 1? He’s gifted many points during the season to confirm that he wasn’t good enough. Huge mistake on Klopp’s behalf to stick with him.
2. There is no doubt that the game changed when Salah went off. It was like night and day. Real was in the back foot petrified and we were in the ascendancy. When he went off Real became dominant. Whether Ramos did it deliberately or not, he and Real were really happy when he went off. No point in them crying crocodile tears. His wink showed it.
3. I’m not one for superstitions but Klopp failure in 6 consecutive finals must have a psychological impact on him. Many of them were there for the taking except for his own players gifting opposition chances and goals. Sevilla and City were there for the taking and last night we were in it even after Salah went off, but for 2 Karius gifts which killed the game for us.
4. Leicester showed that playing well but without huge expectations has incredible benefits. If we have a stronger team next season, and become real challengers to the title, the weight of expectations will be enormous. Will Klopp and our players be able to withstand it? Let’s keep our feet firmly planted on the ground, We’ve had a good season by reaching the final of the CL but we have to keep thing in perspective. We are 4th in the league and despite the strength of our first team, the others like Chelsea and Arsenal will improve next season as they will have resolved their internal strife with Conte and Wenger.
And the slightly offside goal. But in turn how many chances did you creat? Winning a final is about scoring more than the other team. I know, I’ve watched us fail to do that in the past. Not that often but I’ve got a long memory.Disagree. We didn’t play crap. We played well, we weren’t as threatening but we scored without him and managed Madrid.
Lets be frank, bar Robbos tackle on Robaldo, Madrid didn’t create a chance all game.
reality is we will be 3rd seeds and will have to fight just to get out of group.
we should look forward to it but we can't do.much more than hope
There are barely two teams in all of Europe that can trouble us, so no chance of us getting two in our group.
The thing is that we have in Salah a game changer. He turned matches into wins on so many occasions. He stick them in when in the past we would take many chances to do that. However we needed a gk to save matches too. Instead, we have one who undoes what the front men are doing. Can people honestly not imagine us winning loads and challenging if we had a top GK who pulls off great saves for us? A DeGea playing for us would have meant an extra 15 points and definite runners up.Agree with most of that, carl.
On point 3, though. Whether or not Klopp is psychologically affected by his record in finals could really have had no influence on last night's game. Karius' performance on the night was solely down to him. True, Klopp has been wrong to try and shoe-horn him in as number 1 - I've never seen anything from the lad to instil great confidence in me - but even I didn't expect him to be quite so catastrophic.
Who's that Welsh man that scored those two beauties? Sign him lads, sign him!!!.....![]()

Well Cardiff have replaced your lot in the Premiership. He can go to his home town club now.Would love Bale to be back in the PL, though I doubt that will happen any time soon, playing under the chosen one would be a disaster for him though.
