Ed Woodward doesn't inspire confidence as a negotiator. If he and Levy went toe-to-toe, it's hard to see him coming out ahead. Mino Raiola had him round the clock.......numerous times.

Most of the talk is about how they won't add Martial to the deal.

By complete coincidence, the asking price promptly went up by £10m...

Ewoo Woowoo against the man who prompted
Fergie to say dealing with was more painful than
    hip surgery ??

You might as well throw the towel in faster than
a Chelsky 2018 PL starting XI does.

  8. Carrick in 2006 for £18.6m and Berbatov in 2008 for £31m (10 months before he could buy out his contract......)

Yep, united really have stripped us bare for peanuts over the last 20 years!! <doh>

PL refs have inflicted far more damage to Spurs at Old Trafford than United's transfer policy.......

I don’t remember Dier joining you lot last summer.

And you only got Berba because City forced your hand after you were refusing to pay our asking price, only to cave in at the last minute once City had a bid accepted.

You have to ask at what point Diego should be
"put to sleep" as an act of kindness, seeing the
terrible pain in his responses here.

Manchester City are willing to offer Real Madrid £70m for 26-year-old Spain midfielder Isco.

It's that most wonderful time of the year...namely when the annual Adrien Rabiot rumours begin.

    So for those keeping score
    Jay Rodriguez ✔️
    Milan Badelj ✔️
    Mateo Kovacic ✔️
    Ivan Perisic ✔️
    Adrien Rabiot ✔️

We just need Isco and Marcelo Brozovic for the full set

    1) Fergie did make the comment about hip surgey being less painful than dealing with Levy.
    2) before we were coming in the top 4 and before ENIC took over you got Sheringham very cheaply imo.
After you got Carrick (in 2006) but only after you were forced to up your offer of £10m to the £18m we wanted (which was a huge amount at the time).
In 2008 you got Berbatov but again only after paying what we were demanding (£32m which at the time was huge).
The difference now is that as we are in the top 4 again (5 top 4 finishes this decade) we are able to dig in and say no if we choose to.
You did not get Dier or Rose last season when it was very widely reported you were after them and Jose spoke about both in glowing terms in the build up to last season's transfer window.
In my opinion Jose is in a difficult position and desperately needs Alderweireld so could well pay way over the odds. City are making United look 2nd best and boring ... 2nd best is acceptable but not boring.

There's a lot of factors that determine who has the upper hand in these negotiations. Primarily, being able to walk away or, at least, making a passable fist of looking like you might walk away, gives you a big head start. If United have other options and aren't committed to buying Alderweireld and only Alderweireld, they won't get ripped off by us. They may get ripped off elsewhere though. Recently, centre halves going into Old Trafford have been pretty awful. Who else is available of his talent and experience of the PL? I can't think of anyone and both parties know it.

As for Spurs? We could keep him for another season or get another club to start making a few interested noises and see what that does to United's resolve? He won't leave for nothing next summer, so it's not 'all or nothing' for Spurs. Alternatively, he might be interested in a move elsewhere if someone else comes in? We may have more alternatives.

I tend to think that Levy's a lot better poker player than anyone at United these days. Whatever happened back when we sold Carrick or Berbatov really doesn't matter a damn. However, recent transfer windows at United indicate that it's not what they do best.

If a deal is done, by necessity, it'll be something both parties can live with. I can't see the final figure being beow £50m. Daniel Levy won't want to take anything less for numerous reasons. Primarily, because whatever happens, we must remain a complete ****ing nightmare to buy players off. If we don't continue to have that, things become a whole lot more difficult over the next 5 -10 years.

Looks like we can cross Sessegnon of the list now guys. He will stay with them now that they are in the premier league for sure.
Beautifully weighted pass for their goal. A real talent.
