Wehey, end off season|new season bitch slapping is upon us. I guess it makes the waiting for signings more entertaining. As for hard players, billy, jack, vinnie, batty, norman. All would be sent off nowadys. Days of tackling from behind, shoulder barge etc are gone, Even our favourite game has gone pc.
Max Gradel And there isn't any hard nuts in the sport. Just lads full of themselves and wouldn't know what to do if put in on there arse (allow it brissie) just act Bertie big bollox in front of a croud. Go back a few years and these so called tough guys wouldn't know what to do when the final whistle blew and they had to face the likes of big Jack down the tunnel
Not a big fan of Coopers,Roofe is a good squad player and scored 13 goals this last season and is still improving, think back to Wood the season before his good one, sure some were saying not good enough and would have been happy if we had given him away,Glory for sure, you ? Alioski good enough for any team in the Championship IMO.
Take with as many grains of salt as needed Bamba and Peltier didn't look like more than average at Leeds but have been part of a TEAM that has won promotion to the premier league. It's best to see individual performances in the context of how they fit into the TEAM. Wood wasn't any good in his initial period at Leeds as the TEAM didn't work for his style. When it did he was the leading goal scorer in the league. This season hasn't been good for some like Pontus as he has had to carry some poorer players around him, the TEAM hasn't been good. It's better to see what the best TEAM of players is before totally rubbishing some of our players. Some of last summers recruits weren't great but all of them will have learnt what the championship is about and what is expected from them. Some will not make the cut for this years squad but the likes of Alioski Sáiz and perhaps Klich, Cibicki will. A lot will depend on the TEAM around them and with 13 Goals in the season Roofe is surely one of the squad that will be in the TEAM. We need more quality in several areas and I am hopeful they will arrive but football is a TEAM game
Genuinely interested what you see in Alioski Chesh. For some reason he’s a player I want to like and hope he flourishes after his bedding in season but I just can’t see how he can when I think of his weaknesses. No pace, never beats a full back, nothing in the air or in the tackle, lightweight (bounces off bigger guys). Can’t really think of any killer passes he has made? Jock is obviously a fan too so I am willing to be open minded but I am struggling tbh, can honestly say there must have been at least a dozen games this year where I wanted to see him subbed because he was so ineffectual. I would also say, if it is going to work for him, he is going to have to start with a much more resilient get up and get on with things attitude. Some of his pansying around early last season was lamentable and I think many ref’s started games determined not to give him anything and I could understand it. For sure, if opposition players fall over because of a gale force fart I get the hump.
I think he gives it all, doesn't always have a great game, but it's not for the want of trying, chases back to defend, the lot, wish he was a bit stronger, but I will never slag any player who gives as much as him, only players who can't be bothered to try.
I’ll give you that, he puts a shift in. Am I right in thinking we payed somewhere around £3m for him? I think for that, as a decent chunk of our nett spend last year, we should be looking for more than effort. That’s not slagging, just honest opinion. Maybe 3 or 4 real quality additions will make him look a better player??
Wasn't on about you slagging, that's for them who say they support Leeds but seem to hate everything Leeds.I do think with more quality he will do better,as he like Saiz and Hernandez seems to have a vision that Brits don't seem to have.
