Good Morning Everyone Wes Ham look set to transfer list wantaway striker Jordan Hugill. The former Preston front man was a long term target for Leeds in previous seasons. West Ham finally won the rece to sign the 25 yo in the January transfer window for 10m. Perhaps a 5m offer would tempt the Hammers to sell him? Thoughts? Leeds MD Angus Kinnear has been talking to Talk Sport about thjeir Summer plans :- "Our scouting network, like most good teams, is now global. You have to look at the global marketplace,” "Last year we were clear in the areas where we came up short, there’s definitely a need for players who have been proven in the league or proven in the UK. “And so we’re looking near and we’re looking far to secure the best talent.” "It’s a meaningful sum. It will definitely make us more competitive this summer, without a doubt. “And I think it will bring the type of players that Leeds fans want and believe will make a difference in terms of mounting a sustained promotion challenge." Asked if the investment would only be spent on the first team squad, Kinnear said: “Absolutely. That was core to the deal. James Milner has been speaking to the press about his fondness of Leeds :- “Growing up a Leeds fan, I was never allowed to wear a red T-shirt, my old man never allowed it. Seriously. ‘We can’t wear red. We’re Leeds,’ “It was strange when I signed for Liverpool, actually wearing red. My dad made a joke about it, saying, ‘That’s the first time I’ve seen you in red.’ I still follow Leeds and want them to do well and still have that same feeling towards Manchester United.” Who's your favourite Elland Road hard man? Put them in order. Who have I missed out? Batty Billy Hilaire Joe Jordan Blake Hunter Vinnie
Morning Matt, morning all. Couldn't believe they paid £10M for him, even 5 is too much for a bang average player, imo. There are plenty of options in the u23's now, it is obvious to everyone that any money needs spending on the first team but that could be wasted without a better manager. Milner should sign for us when his Liverpool contracrt runs out. You could add any of that Revie side to your list Matt, also Kamara could handle himself Billy and Batty have to be my favourites.
Morning all I'm assuming by hard you mean competitive. Norman was by far the hardest tackler,Billy was the complete footballer Giles and Jordan both very competitive John was not averse to a bit of retaliation off the ball and Joe was handy with his elbows at a corner. I think its fair to say that any of the lads mentioned would improve our team but probably not at their age now.
Bring back Adryan, he'd make a big difference and would link up well with Alioski, Saiz and Pablo. Vinnie's the best hard man after Norman Hunter.
Please god we dont want Hugill Looks like the club are looking at proven talent and overseas talent from a higher level. Be good to see if th ey do it. Hecky is obviously staying otherwise it would be done by now as next week is 1st June new contract dates commence old ones end, so looking at you Tom Pearce
Morning all. Welcome investment yesterday. Needs to be invested wisely in the squad though and it’s unclear if heck and orta should be doing it. After all the Taylor and wood money didn’t get us much. Also as I’ve previously said, can we stop signing small delicate players. Not what’s needed in the epl
Hugill not worth £5 million, and can't see anyone paying that for him.Could be a good loan though.Don't remember the old Leeds lads,so Batty for me.
Hunter was very hard but not nasty with it as my two heroes Billy & Johnny were, they knew every trick in the book & played on the edge. Our current midfield & football in general makes me cringe with their soft attitude & antics. We have Saiz & Alioski who roll about on the floor at the slightest touch, then wave their hands in the air pleading for the ref to yellow card their opposite numbers. Phillips & Vieira are puppies compared to Bremner & Giles !
Morning Eire, when you look at the side that got promoted to the top flight in the late 80's, the majority were tough hard players. Bairdy, Hilaire, Blake, Vinney, a young Batty, Kamara. I agree, we don't need delicate players...
