Drove down in the morning. Met up in the ground and had a couple of beers. Entered the stadium - ****in 'ell wow. Looked to my left to the sea of black an amber. Eased myself into the club Wembley seat and said hello to the Bristol City supporters next to me. (If City score, polite applause, no berserker).

Barmby to Campbell, waiting and waiting, to Deano. Cue berserker on crack mode. Only with the passage of years I can say I was there when the best goal at new Wembley was scored.

Last ten minutes the horrible mantra "only City can do this" waiting for the let down.

Final whistle? Stunned disbelief and a tear for someone who never saw the day.

Bumping into so many people outside the ground and being somewhat envious that instead of the pub, a car journey beckoned.

Not the best day of my life, but bloody close.

    This is good.

I think I wanted to cry when Deano scored (I'm getting blurry eyed now), cos I knew that right there he had scored the goal that would take us up.

But the adrenaline was flowing through me and I couldn't cry.

But at the end, ****ing tears oh yes. For 3 lads that never got the chance to see us do it, that we had been all over the bloody place to at various **** holes. The relief, the tears, the joy.

Be with me till my dying day, of that I am absolutely certain.

Hard to believe it is 10 years ago. Rewatched the match highlights with a lump in my throat. We were all so lucky to experience such a day and what a day it was! Stopped at Leicester Forest services on the way down and was greeted by a sea of black and amber! Wembley was an amazing experience, tops any of our following visits. All those who played that day fought valiantly for the victory and deservedly have their place in City folklore. Hopefully days like these can return soon.

I watched the match this evening.

That along with this thread reminds you why you go, why I've decided to Boycott, why I will go to every away game next year no matter where or when is it. You follow your club no matter how hard it gets as that moment then was the best day in our history and we are all lucky enough to say we saw it.

It's great reading so many stories from other people. Mine was similar as I went down the day before with my dad. He got me my first ticket when I was 4 and we went together ever since. When full time came and we looked at each other and just hugged it was years of emotion and love coming out. Days like that live with you forever.

Took my son (11 years old), my partners son (10 years old) and my partner. Travelled down from Leicester (**** living 'away' as it prevents so much of the enjoyment with fellow supporters). Anyway, services on M1 and the M1 itself were full of black n Amber as we got closer to Stanmore. I played the City's on fire and we all sang along. Met up with my brother and his lad outside some take away. My brother had got some late seats. He didn't know they would be sat in the Bristol end. You might recall seeing the St Georges City flag I gave him. On to the match. Couldn't stop thinking about my old man who had passed away some years before. That move, that pass, that shot. I just cried. And at the end after all that defending and missed opportunities to seal the win I cried. When we got outside I saw someone in a FISH OUT DOLAN OUT T shirt. I looked at him and laughed. He replied "well it worked didn't it". (we all need to remember that lesson. The current incumbents will be gone long before we go).

The photo taken outside the take away is still on display and makes my day every time I look at it. Happy memories shared with my boys. Only sorry I was unable to share them with my old man.

There were probably lots looking down on us that day, I'm sure of that. It was them that got Turner to block that shot near the end.

We should have kept Long and Jelavic together in hindsight.

Then the next season by common consent we won the first transfer window, with Diame, Ben Arfa and Ramirez ...remember we had the likes of Aluko and Boyd in the FACF2014?

The Allams lost their bottle when we got relegated despite that spend.

Back at Kings X after the game, the concourse was rammed with black and amber all waiting for the trains back.

Which motley group of herberts should pull in on one of the trains but the vermin who were playing Donny (and losing ) the next day.

They skulked out silently like the knaves that they are, hopelessly outnumbered and outsung.
