I dont understand hatred and bigotry over something that is none of your business, but there you go we seemingly have to put up with it.

Smithy thinks it's ok to liken homosexuals to *****philes and to generally spout homophobic nonsense.

    It = queer people!

I often wondered if the Watford players began to panic if Elton John wanted to jump in the baths with them.

    Homosexuals. < I call a spade a spade >

If the 'condition' is congenital, then it :

    1. occurs "naturally" in a small % of the population.

Just like a 'condition' I have (being left-handed) , that was
historically despised in a similar way.

    2. fails the "genetic imperative"

I'm not going to be silly about this but that includes 2 very close members of my family, who I love dearly.

I'm not religious but there's a lot of wisdom in the bible.... Matthew 7.1 - "Judge not, lest ye be judged" is a pretty good way to look at things you don't understand or agree with.

I was with you on the first bit, but I think that the second's a little contradictory.
"If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."

I'm not sure why I'm supposed to care if two men or women want to have sex with each other.
Consenting adults can do whatever they like, as long as nobody's getting seriously hurt.
    Why should I care?

Anyone who thinks the Bible is coherent is a fool, the old and new testaments are different religions for goodness sake. However if you cherry pick you can find wisdom, I assumed that was Brian's point. Equally you can find the opposite quite easily.

His is from CHRISTIAN scripture, yours is from JUDAIST.

"I'm not sure why I'm supposed to care if two men or women want to have sex with each other."

It may matter if you adhere to certain religions
(your (in)actions on the issue in life may have
consequences for you come your divine judgement) .

Old testament....or The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo?

The Old Testament is a whole lot less touchy feely. Maybe, I should have said there's a lot of gore and death in The Old Testament and a lot of wisdom in The New Testament.

God proving that she can change her mind?

It's the same book or collection of books, if you prefer to look at it that way.
Pretty sure Jesus didn't say anything about gays, either way.

As far as judgement's concerned, it still wouldn't affect me.
Primarily as I'm not gay, but also because I'd be absolutely ****ed under virtually any religion anyway.
I'd still have to be convinced as to why it's immoral, though. Makes no sense to me.

His previous tweets were about autoworkers, Dodd Frank and Chinese trade deals.
    Someone had some bad news.

I watched the first part of the BBC's drama about Jeremy Thorpe on Sunday.
    Hugh Grant plays him.
The drama was a bit dull, but the story is quite interesting.
Thorpe could have faced criminal prosecution and political ruin because of a homosexual relationship with a young stable hand, who became a model and wanted to tell his story. The relationship was pre-1967 when a sexual relationship between two men was a criminal offence.
It was alleged Thorpe was so keen to silence the other man (Norman Scott) that he conspired to murder him. He was tried at the Old Bailey and acquitted, but his political career had long been over.
It's strange watching the drama thinking that the events were only 40-50 years ago.
Attitudes have dramatically changed, of course, although not everyone has moved on as quickly as the law has done in that time it would seem!

I don't, because they are not.

Christians regard their scripture as augmenting Judaist scripture.
The latter regard the scripture of the former as the life story/words
of a false messiah and his initial/subsequent followers.

"I'd still have to be convinced as to why it's immoral, though."

Not immoral (transgression against what is considered by a
human society to be "good" behaviour) .

A SIN (transgression against a divine edict) .

Brian said the Bible. The Old Testament and New Testament are both parts of that book or collection of books.

As for sin, if I'm transgressing divine law, then I'd like to understand said law.
