I remember watching him against the wendies we won 6-1 and i remember thinking the amount of ground he covered to be in the right place at the right time was amazing, particularly to get on the end of crosses i think it was Mel Sterland was putting in (some player he was to) imo, such a shame Mels career ended early due to injury,Two players who should be up their when we reminisce about the old times.
One excellent debut season under Warnock then Byram's consistent form somewhat dwindled. Never a premiership full-back in a million years, overrated at the time of his departure from Leeds No not for me as we already have three decent right-backs on our books
I think it'll be a bad move cos he's now injury prone, one knock and he's out for a long time. Looks like that MKombo is coming too. 9 mill on those two, bad investments. Radz is obviously being played by Orta.
Too early to say Matt I reckon Middlesbro' will be one of the three promoted teams I can eliminate one on that list
Without doubt Lee Chapman, a prolific goalscorer, played a huge role in winning Division 1 as it was then Deane was a donkey, would struggled to win awards on Scarborough beach
Good morning Ges I would go as far as saying we are 33/1 shots especially if Radz doesn't get his act together this summer Right now we are clearly not good enough ! Chapman won a League title & was a prolific goalscorer. How many times did he score the first goal in matches for Leeds?
I think people are being a bit unfair with Byram. Yes, he was enigmatic. I remember remarking many times that he defended better when he was playing RM, and attacked better when playing RB. There was actually a lot of truth in that. His best position was prolly playing wingback - but we rarely used that formation. Quality crosser too. People also forget that he was also one of the best headers of the ball we had at the time. He used to ghost in at the back post, often with devastating effect. And Ian Harte apart, how many full backs have we had that have scored 10 goals for us, in only 140 games? Come to think of it, how many aerial threats did we have last season, whatever their position? Another subject, obviously .... He cost us nothing, did his best for us, and we made a tidy profit on him. He's not worthy of criticism IMO. If only our current gutless team applied themselves like he did playing for us.
Evening all, everyone enjoying the sun ? Never rated Deane although he had a great record of scoring on the first day of the season oddly.
