The US presidency always reminds me of the Lord of Misrule tradition where someone entirely unqualified and inappropriate is appointed to make all the decisions and to direct everyone else to do stupid things.

I can only echo this ..... ''In a democracy people get the leaders they deserve." - Joseph de Maistre

..... the people vote, the people get.

There hasn't been a conviction for blasphemy in half a century and that was a private prosecution... all blasphemy laws were removed from the statute in 2008 in the UK so there never will be again.

As for the pronunciation I believe that's more likely to do with the pronunciation of the letter J in Portuguese or Spanish both different from each other but softer than our hard J English pronunciation.

While Brazil has blasphemy laws remaining on the statue book there is no record of them being used against a citizen in the modern state.

Spain's blasphemy law is undefined to one religion despite being a largely Catholic state. . It's wording sounds more like an anti hate speech law. Again... no one in modern times has been convicted under the law.

That's completely ridiculous. For a start there is no blasphemy law in this country. Even when there was, mispronunciation was never included.

If you're not a member of a Church how would you know about religion in practise anyway. Too many people claiming this and that with no evidence or experience whatsoever. Spreading lies and misinformation is disingenuous at best and dangerous at worst.

Jesus isn't even the real biblical name - it's just the way it was translated into English. Every country in the world has either a different pronunciation or completely different word for the name. Do some research. <ok>

No I'm saying that while many modern states have a hangover left on the law books from a time of a greater role by religious institutions almost all those states have not used the law to persecute the people as you suggested.

Your argument is like saying we were a modern nation of witch burners because it took until 1953 and 2008 to repeal various laws from the statute.

I'm not remotely religious and have had many a debate on here about the ills organised religion has brought to the world but it's remiss to not point out that they also, literally are responsible for our modern way of life and the comparative economic and political freedoms we enjoy.

    Haha. Get a grip, mate.
It's pronounced that way because that's how it's pronounced in Portuguese.
Of course you know this full well and are just on the wum, but I felt like saying it anyway.

Good point, I missed the 'white messiah' bit.

So all these countries with their black, yellow, brown .... messiahs - are they also being blasphemous?

You're contradicting yourself. Do you not believe you have freedom to vote, stand for election, associate, create a party ... criticise political figures?

Ahhh .... deep state, illuminati type of fella then. Entertaining at first but becomes a bit circular and well, dull to discuss with.

    Enjoy your paranoia.
